I am currently using co.cc domain for my site but I am facing some problem with it, so I am looking for a new domain. Dot com(.com) domain for my site is already registered by someone else, but .net and .co domains are still available. Can anyone tell me which one will be best .net or .co

The problem with .co is that if your domain is already taken with the .com , if your website actually took off and you wanted to create a brand then you will have an extremely hard job, My advise is to find a .com and go with that instead . .co is far to close and can be confused if seen in the public eye.

Of course if its just being used as a mini site or landing page that isnt really an issue

I think .net better choice than .co as .co is not top domain, but up to you :)

I like .co because you can create keyword relevant domain names. They are still fresh. The only downside is that it might get confused with .com by people who hear of it.

    .CO > .NET

In the 90's .NET used to be the domain extension for networks only, now it's just another meaningless extension.

Just like .COM was not created to be a COMmercial extension. It was later branded as the commercial extension because of the number of businesses that used it as such.

At least .CO is shorter and stand for real abbreviation of the word company and commercial.

if you are looking for columbian traffic go for .co, but if you want international traffic than stick on .net ;)

i definitely do not agree with this - there are more than 500K registered .co domains, i dont think anyone that has a .co site has the intention of attracting columbian traffic. Its all about marketing - many HUGE well known companies are adapting the .co domain - meaning they will market it, meaning it will become known in time.

its the newest thing out - i would grab a .co name and forget the .net

.CO is a commercial extention NOT a network extention.

There are hundred of thousands registered domains with .tk, does it means .tk isa great ccTLD? huh?
.co is just an other way to steal peoples money.
Those Huge well known companies do not care on .co or any other ccTLD as they own the .com domain.

Yes in dreams maybe. It's just a ccTLD nothing else.

Let's get real - .co = COLOMBIA. The "new .com" or "if you didn't get your .com, get a .co!" stuff is just bullshit marketing that a lot of people fall for. No matter what extension comes out, premiums will sell for a lot of money. Even for the worst extensions ever, like .biz.

how do you know that each of these companies do not care about acquiring .co's? r u the ceo of each of these companies?
    probably not.

its a new extension, and with a new extension comes high prices - its all about what people are willing to pay.
Time will tell if the .co is a good thing or not. Marketing does have an impact

Think twice and you will get the point. If not, imagine you have a company to manage and think, what would you care of?

It's also a gTLD, it globally geo target. .CO is an hybrid extention.

People prefer to brand themselves as "company" "commerce" "corporation" NOT "network". If i'm Nike, it make absolutely no sense to brand my self as Nike.net, I mean WTF? Nike is a network provider? LOL... I'll rather have Nike.co if Nike.com is taken as it perfectly stand for "Nike & Co." I'm selling shoes not internet IP adresses. Shoes.net does't make any sense as in shoes.tv or Nike.gov.

Only domainers think .net is the second extension of choice, It isn't, .NET is a completely different animal, nothing to do with company or commerce, nothing to do with corporation, it's just another useless extension that was completely abandoned in the 90's.

.NET will never be like .COM & .CO

Also, Internet domain registrar and web hosting company are listing .CO as the second choice:

"Also, Internet domain registrar and web hosting company are listing .CO as the second choice:"

That is called marketing plan! It's all about money! They aren't listed based on TLD importance
