Yahoo News First Colorado and Wisconsin, now this. What's with all this crap? They really need to start locking the doors during school hours so idiots like these guys can't get in.
its terrible....when will it ever stop? schools are no longer safe.... i feel sorry for the victims and their families.....
Yea i was shocked when i heard about it can you imagine going to a school and someone shoots a gun its just terrible they need to cut it out
There was just another shooting in Lancaster also (right by me). Some sicko attacked a 1 room amish school, killed 4 and injured more.
That's what the posted news story is about. I'd also like to point out that there was a shooting in a Canadian college a couple of weeks ago where one woman was killed and several others injured. The gunman killed himself in this case as well. I can't begin to understand the motive in any of these cases.
My old highschool is locking its doors now..well not all of it but only 1 stays open after rush (5 min before the first class)..I think it's a lot helpful..I know there's no stopping people with sick intentions but..I do kinda think schools should adopt a closed door policy. Although not practical in all cases and will cause a lot of problems maybe that's the way to go to make schools, colleges and universities safer. I wish the university would do the same...there must be other ways but until the other way is found..locking is a pretty good one.
It's really sad. However, my old high school has had walk through AND hand held metal detectors in place for at least 15 years... maybe longer! You couldn't walk into the school without going through them even if you were the principal... EVERYONE was checked. I'm sure it's still the same way if not more secure now. Honestly I believe that these people are sick bastards who feel sorry for themselves and have no regard for life other than their own self-pity. "Oh they made fun of me"... boo hoo, we all got made fun of! The stories I can tell!!!! Yet I never thought about killing my classmates, jeez! It truly makes me sick, though I do believe that all schools should have metal detectors in place- it really deters any thought foul play. It's sad that we have to live that way, but in all honesty the sense of security is worth it.
I have an explanation, it has been shown after a well published news story of suicide rates and bad behavior like that, events similar to that rises. It has been shown that 3-4 days after a well published suicide, people start killing themselves at a greater rate than usual. Same thing with the school shootings. After Columbine, police responded to many similar threats by troubled students to 'came up' after the shootings. On a lighter note, haven't you noticed that older woman started dating younger males since celebrities started that trend? Anyway, I reason that people are more likely to follow to lead of others and reason that 'if they did it, it wouldn't be so bad if i did it'
I agree EBizAlan, I totally noticed the trend. Sometimes it makes me feel that the media shouldn't be publicizing some things simply because of this reason. However, they would never stop anything that gave them good ratings!
For the most part, it's not the people who legally own guns that you have to worry about. I cannot imagine living in a place where you cannot legally bear arms, yet they still exist on the black market. I don't have a gun... but if I lived in a rural area I would!
