Unusual Google Ranking drop down?

Hi.

I have noticed an unusual drop down in rankings of a few different websites. I am not sure of the source of these drop downs. Have some suggestions?

Hard to say, unless we get more specifics on those sites (are they linked, the industry, how old are they etc.)

 

Usually it's something that you did yourself to make that ranking drop ...

other than that, the problem would be within the google changes

 

I think it's because of spam backlinks mostly from blog commenting

 

What sites and what terms? Your question is too broad.

 

It really depends... moreover, blog commenting won't make you go down... there is no way for Google to know if this was made on purpose to harm your site, for example.

It's pretty hard to tell without knowing the URL.
Have you started selling links from your sites?

 

I didnt say that blog commenting will harm the site. But lately blog commenting links have been getting discounted, so if his site was ranking partly due to the comments, his rankings may fall due to Google discounting blog comment links

any input about google instant??? I also experience some drops and I think its because of the update of google instant, any thoughts???

1. sites in sandbox
2. sites were punished

Thanks all for your answers. And I think I get what I was looking for - most of you don't have probably the same problem so Google haven't change anything recently....
And Excel, I don't think it's Google Instant - it might have an impact on number of traffic but shouldn't have an impact on search engine ranking results.

I didn't see any changes lately, you have to give us the URLs so we will try to assist.

 

might be your competitor had more links now then your site

 

You must analyze your competitors sites

 

Do you build your backlinks with only one anchor text? This may be the reason why your ranking drops.

Maybe a new Google algorythm or maybe just the usual Google dance, it can be very annoying!
