I've made a back up of my site in Cpanel and I've tried to download it to my computer 5 times today and each time the download fails! First I try to download it through Firefox, it gets to 90% and then the download ends before reaching 100%. Then, I try to use Internet Explorer, and the same thing happens. Then, I install the Internet Download Manager, and it gets to 70% and then a message tells me that some "interruption" has occurred with the server, and the download has been stopped. Of course, my dedicated server DOES NOT support resuming so IDM can't resume the download from where it stopped. My hosting company is worthless, they refuse to download the back up on their end because my server is dedicated and not shared and they only make back ups of shared servers(even though I pay well over $100 a month for hosting). Long story short, if my site gets hacked I could be financially ruined if I'm unable to download my back up so I have files to restore in case I'm hacked! Can anyone give me a solution to this problem? It is making me so pissed off, I've tried to download the same file over and over and it always gets to 70, 80, or 90% and then crash, why does it have to be so hard to download a file!?
The difference being FTP is made for file transfers, whereas over cPanel, it's using PHP memory limits to determine how much of that file you can download.
Thank you so much for helping me, I downloaded Smart FTP and it worked! I'm relieved, without a back up I'm helpless if someone hacks my site. Thanks again.
