Hi everyone Just built a new website, centred around quitting smoking. I have got a team of SEO staff working on it full time, but it will take at least a few more days to index, and I'm wondering if anyone has any cracking suggestions about how I might go about promoting it. Considered facebook, but to be honest, there just isn't enough interest on there...
Unless you have a lot of content, you can kiss the SEO of your site good bye. A ten page website wont do it.
+1 for flyers, use strong imagery (lung cancer, whatever) to draw their attention. Offer them something for going to the site (free guide, resources, etc).

Join on some health care forums. It can give you good amount of relevant backlinks and traffic as well.
You should try publishing a Press Release. This will give your site credibility along with targeted traffic and backlinks.
I'd atleast put the link here.... that would help promote it and get people going to it and possibly convert a smoker!
I'd go with VIBGYORtel and kindly comment in smoker blogs with your "cignature" having the "quit smoking" link.... The last thing you want to do is over promote it and get banned or harrassed.
Your Local Newspaper, Health Authority in my case it would be NHS (Hull) in the UK. I am guessing you would be private, I would put some posters up in local GP's, Hospitals, etc. Thanks.
try to advertise about your site on http://www.microlancers.com , try to give jobs of facebook, youtube, digg and others to the members of the site they will promote your site with in minutes.
Adwords , SEO , & Social Media ...do those three things first and then go from there. If you have good SEO traffic, consistent adwords & social media traffic - that should get you going. -C
