Determining the worth of a domain name

I am looking to buy a domain name from someone so that I will not have the trouble of building up the PR from scratch. But, I have no idea what a domain name is worth.

Can someone tell me what the price of the domain will be based on PR and the number of visitors.

    Thanks in advance.

That website does not help much. I was hoping for a category wise description on how prices will be for each type of domain.

What PR? and what number of visitors?
Domain only? or website as well?

There are so many variables its not funny. Like domain name, age, history, PR, type ins, domain searches, etc etc which may be worth $xxx to one person and $x,xxx to another. Ultimately its worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay for it.
How much do they want for it?

If you are buying a domain name, PR is not a factor in it unlike buying established website.
the price of a domain name is complex and very flexible,
someone can buy a domain for $10 and then resell it to someone for $1,000,
you have to find the end user for the domain, it's the key you can succeed in domain trading. ;)

I agree. But it would be nice if people had a absolute way of finding the price. Domain parking seems to have become a big deal today and you might just earn a lot of money from it. Will keep it in my mind if I plan on selling my new site sometime ;)

Also it depends on the niche and how big is the site (amount of content).

    theentry,
i am not talking about selling the site. its just the domain. it won't come with any content but will have a set of users visiting it even when the ownership has been changed

I suppose that would not be problem for you to find appraisal services and ask for the appraisal there. In any case your domain name will worth as much as real buyer is ready to pay for that domain name.
