does wifi connection need to high speed internet ?

i'm gonna to set up a home network wifi for my laptop but i'd like to know whether wifi connection need to high speed internet or no ?

whether i should get service high speed internet at first time that can install wifi ?

please guide me

I don't think it requires high speed.
One of my friend uses it when he has only 512Kbps.

 

i agree with you, but i recomended you to use 3,1Mbps provider to set up a home network

Definitely when you use network it will effect the speed so much u need high speed internet while installing wifi.

 

all depends on the provider you use, if you use the internet with unlimited bandwidth and high speed internet, I suggest you to use an access point with a high spech also, how much area will you use for wifi?

 

There is no speed requirement but just get the fastest you can get or regret it LOL

 

This thread is confusing to me.

1. You DONT need high speed Internet access to use Wifi. In fact fou don't need Internet access at all. The term WiFi refers to wireless networkability (almost always LAN-based). So if you have other computers at home/offce that you want to "talk too" (e.g. share files, share desktop, etc.) you need a LAN (local area network). Wifi is good for notebooks and quite frankly anyone who doesn't feel like running cables to build a network.

2. However, these days a LAN is no fun without a WAN (wide-area network) such as the Internet.

So, if I were you, I'd get high speed Internet access from the local cable/dsl/phone company and tell them you want a wireless router. Usually, you can find free router & installation promotions if you just look around (or ask when you call).
