Actually just editing it isn't OK, its a derivative work. Check the manufacturer's websites - often common products (eg, coca-cola) have a section on their sites somewhere with images that are able to be used for exactly your purpose. Otherwise, search Flickr for creative-commons images with the right licensing and attribute them as per the license.

Take a picture of a phone or get permission to use anything you don't own. If you use a manufacturers photo, chances are they won't do anything, but to be legally safe, you need express permission.
No, the manufacturers may have photos where you are *allowed* to use them. They will be under a section called "media" or something and it will be quite explicit. You can't just grab any old photo. Mjewel has the other option of course - just take your own photo, you'll have no problems that way at all.
