not by a long shot, but it's still pretty crazy nevertheless.

hopefully the winning bidder is not a deadbeat [IMG]

    That would suck, big time.

Have you tried finding out the bidders contact details via this page?
    Maybe phoning would be better?

My brother has Emailed him several times - no response so far - it's not like the buyer is unaware that he won the auction. I guess we'll have to see/hope - don't want to make a big deal about it, but yea, since it was for charity, would be nice if he paid up.

Still no response from the dude who made the winning bid. Needless to say, my brother is a bit miffed at what appears to have been a fake bid per the updated image on the eBay auction URL itself - see below.

Guess SamTheFunkMonkey has other names I will not use online. It is sad someone thinks that is a fun thing to do.

That's a large bid amount for such an item, but isn't the winning bid all going to charity? I'd say then this auction is worth it.. :)

Charity donations are always a good thing. :D:D

Yes, as directed on the eBay auction itself, the entire winning bid should be paid directly to charity. However, so far, the winner bidder hasn't paid one iota ...

I personally liked the used bent nail that went for sale. They claimed it had only been used once!

Sorry for this being offtop; Hulkster you have an incredibly beautiful house.

Can't your brother just contact the second place bidder? Something tells me he won't be geting anything from this dude.

yeah, if he hasn't heard a peep by now, it ain't gonna happen...

right, isn't there a feature that allows the 2nd place offer to buy it - w/out having to re-list it and all that good stuff.

I'm 99% certain the second bidder is aware of what has happened ... but there isn't an "intrinsic" value associated with the ... uhhhh ... shaving bag. Plus the top bidder would get the misc. PR for winning which the 2nd place bidder did not get.

So while my brother is pretty annoyed about the whole thing, I don't think he's going to pursue it - just a darn shame that the dude placed what appears to be a fake bid.

Although it would be pretty funny to spoof the "Laptop Blog" and give out about the guy. More for comical reasons then to actually get him back.
