Marketing.... Hard or what

What i mean is, Marketing... Hard or what for newbies. I've tried marketing before and im just totally useless. The only way i can market is by posting on forums and by using Twitter Tools on a wordpress blog. There's all these guides that say it's the easiest form of marketing but when you look at it , it actually isnt or they dont include instructions/steps. Something that had instructions/steps would be great, even if it would earn us £1.00 a year (dont say adsense). But i suppose once you learn about marketing and get to know more about it and how to do it you'll be more advanced and be able to use even better guides that get you £100 a day etc

But for a newbie it's not easy to get into. (well for me anyway) So what would you guys recommend? I would like to do some marketing but i really do not know where to start, I dont really wanna go download ebooks unless they are actually useful and basic and have steps or your actually able to follow it. I dont mind how basic it is.

I just would like to know what you guys would recommend and how you guys first started in marketing etc

Like what Hersheys said. It is hard when you dont know where to start.

It is important that you plan out what your are going to do. It can be very tempting to read ebooks and watch videos for weeks before you even do a single thing. I have a post in this forum on getting started you should check that out.

    You must take action though.

Well money will definitely help in marketing your online business. A good marketing budget can help speed things up but if you don't have any budget, you're stuck with the free marketing methods like article marketing, twitter, facebook, blog commenting, SEO, youtube, etc.

I suggest setting up a blog on your site and writing as much useful content as you can, this will bring in some visitors and (hopefully) some sales too.

Basically marketing a prestigious product is easy, marketing sh1t is nearly impossible unless ofcourse you already associated to a prestigious product or your brand has a major weight. For example: Google keep selling ppl its sh1t, but since google has a big name ppl will buy their sh1t thinking its good :D

Here's the thing, marketing isn't a set it and forget type work. A lot of people are looking for the easy way out. A lot of tools out there are helpful. However, I just don't think there is any substitute for good old fashioned work. There are different methods and there is no one method that will work for every website. Unfortunately marketing is about testing several things out thoroughly, and then tossing the methods that are not converting for you and keep those that are. Eventually you'll have it dialed in and you'll be making money with less effort.

Marketing is just a series of failing experiments followed by success. Reading ebooks doesn't help, frankly. At least ebooks do not cover 99% of real world situations.

Hey bud. The most successful people in the world invest up to 30% of their income to education. What about getting some hard copy books by top marketers that have made companies millions like Jay Abraham or rich guys like Donald Trump. Then get some books on direct marketing maybe start with a Dummies Guide. It's good to get a big picture of what marketing and business is by successful people. If you start wide then narrow it down you will have a better chance and recognize the rubbish when you see it.

With IM I would highly suggest you find ONE person you trust and follow them and their advice as information overload is the enemy in IM. For general direction of what to market try evergreen fields such as dating and dieting-if there are many people making money there it means a lot of people are buying products. But best to try and find a mentor and follow what they say and take action.

Give yourself a big time frame to get your head around it as 95% people fail in IM (mostly because they don't take action and they just give up)

    Keep going mate.

I have to admit, I bought many ebooks before I could discern the good from the trash. There are so many aspects to internet marketing. There's building sites for adsense income, or CPA, or clickbank or other affiliate programs. There are many forms of getting your sites to market through white hat, grey hat and black hat methods. I had to go through all these territories before I could actually come up with a plan. Contrast is good, you need to see what you don't want to do, before you can decide what you DO want to do.

Finding the type of marketing that fits your style and your comfort level is good. I have had different coaches, and I always look at it as continuing education. I am always gathering information to help formulate my own style. You can take action, but there is nothing more frustrating than taking the wrong action, or you weren't given all the pieces in order to finalize your success.

It took me close to 6 months of reading and absorbing, and talking with other marketers. And then I took the plunge, and I have tried many aspects. My success finally took off when I made friends with a couple of marketers. Having someone to bounce ideas around with sure helps. When you start to feel overwhelmed, stop and decide what piece of the puzzle do you think you are missing. And then go looking for the answer. There is a lot of free information out there. Sometimes, what you are looking for...that one little tip, can be found in a one paragraph blog post.

Don't give up...success is right around the corner.

Problem is , I dont really know where to start. Where ever i look im confused? How do i do this? What do i do? is it easy? Where do i start? It's always the same questions. Thing is all these ebooks claimed to be easy to follow when 99% of the time they dont have any steps. and a easy noob guide with steps would be great for me and others in the same situation as me.

thats the beauty of it - its all trial and error - no one knows where to start - people find their niche and work with it. If someone were given a manual on how to do something, then they would be too late to do it - since it was done before.

for the newbie,i think it is better to try some free marketing ways.thus, after a short time, you will learn some skills and experience, then, you can get more deep research on seo to check which is thebest way for your own websit.or maybe you can control how much you should pay for the marketing besides the free ways.

If they gave instructions or steps they would be out of business. Anyone that tries to sell you a marketing tool or guide is doing it for one reason and one reason only, no matter how much they say otherwise.

Marketing and sales is pretty challenging but most rewarding. It's like the front line of every business to make money or not! All about being out there and keep networking.

Hi topgear, marketing is easy to undestand, but difficult to make results in.

Regular marketing is based on sales, indications, former campaigns and so on. Internet marketing is a lot more about testing and tweaking, its not that much history based, due to the changes at the internet all the time.

A newbie should eventually consult a coach to

    1) Clarify if the IM business is for you or not?
    2) Help to choose a direction to go !
    3) Get proven methods of succes online !

    regards, LASSE
