    • Launched in 2002
    • 32,000+ members (2nd largest site of this kind)

    More Info

    $75K

    Niche:
people living with uncurable STDs (herpes/aids)
This is a "market" on its own, maybe even larger than 'regular' market.. Just take a look at sad statistics:
    - "In the United States, an estimated 15.3 million new cases of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) occur each year"
    - "About one in five people in the United States over age 12 – approximately 45 million individuals – are infected with HSV-2, the virus that causes genital herpes"
    - "Up to 1 million new HSV-2 infections may be transmitted each year in the United States"
    - "An estimated 20 million people in the United states are infected with HPV, and as many as 5.5 million new infections occur each year."
    Source

this "gold mine" hasn't been discovered by any "big players" of dating/social business like AFF.com, or match.com

    Facts:
People have choices: they can go to bar and meet someone.. they can meet someone at company's picnic, or be introduced to someone by their friends and families. As a last resort they could go online and use one of thousands web-based dating services. In case of failure of current relationship, people start exploring all those options all over again.

People, who live with herpes/AIDS, don't have such options. 99% of them will not take chances of approaching someone, because of the fear of being rejected and embarrassed . Herpes is not a deadly disease, but it is not curable. If current relationship didn't work , the person will be forced to come back and start search all over again.. web is the only option.

From business stand point this niche is much 'stronger' than any web-based social service out there.
None of the advertisings on 'regular' site will reach all potential consumers simply because all people belong to different consumer groups: they all have different tastes and preferences, they belong to different social groups etc etc. The only product that will get interest of all of them would be a "love potion", but i haven't heard any scientific breakthrough in this field. Most likely it will be immediately banned by government and the only place to buy it will be some dark alley.

100% of customers in this STD-related niche belong to the same consumer group right from the start because they are sharing same medical condition (it would be interesting to conclude a research regarding other medical conditions that limit their partner choices to self-alike).
All people using this kind of sites is highly interested in anything that allows them to maintain / improve their condition.

    Who are potential advertisers?
Pharmaceutical companies, plus all STD prevention organizations.

When the site was maintained, it used to generate around $5K/month ..
After 2 years of 'free fall" , it still made $300-600 monthly. All revenue had been generated from memberships. Site never had affiliate program, and didn't have any advertisings.

With correct approach, it will pay off within 1 year.

Yes.. but not complete. around $90k-$100K. there are 2 gaps , when site used 2CO accounts of people who are no longer with us. W don't have reciepts for this year, but i think it would be possible to find them. 2CO lost their mind and after 5 years of business with us, they decided to change their TOS and stopped supporting recurring payments for dating sites. Since the domain's owner is in Eastern europe, it's hard to get a merchant account.
This is actually the reason why site is for sale now.

So the site used to make 5k a month, but now makes 300-600$ a month? That's only 7200$ a year. It would take 10 years to turn a profit. Tell me if I went wrong anywhere, or if you're selling the site based on what it used to make?

Nobody supported this site for 2 years, no emails had been answered, no maintainence, 2CO had been used instead of normal merchant account...

did you read about specifics of this niche?

I am interested in the site, but potential is a hard sell, especially with the variance in what you used to pull in, and what you get now.

    pls pm all info-

I think BIN is 7,5K, no? Site is not supported for 3 years, so I don't understand why you would sell it as if it had been supported till today with same figures of income.

would you condsider selling a percentage of the site and keeping part
or maybe there is a few of us who would pool together to buy a site like this?
any thoughts as 75k is a serious punt for one person
