New to SEO....but a friend that's been helping me says he targets Bing with products, sites that are geared toward the baby boomers and for some reason he does quite well.

If you want your website to be successful. Keep Google at first place and build on other keywords as well. Do not concentrate on Bing, it is useless and will not provide equal traffic as google.

I really only pay attention to google and find when I rank well with the big G I usually follow suit with Yahoo. I heard yahoo was doing something different now that they are merged with bing and on page SEO counts highly. The main thing I focus on is quality post and quality backlinks. Do that in a natural normal progression and you will do well. I have.

If you focus on Google then the rest will eventually follow. Eventually. I agree with what's been said. Many people who are using bing are using IE right out of the box and are probably just using what they're given, that probably makes them a good market depending on what your monetization strategy is. After all, it's well known that the more computer savvy a person is the less inclined they are to click links. See Ars Technia and their ad block debaucle.

Bing traffic might have a higher click through rate. I don't know, I've not tried it. I may look into it at a later date. I turn off Bing and Yahoo in my rank checkers because I just don't care what Microsoft do. Frankly, in my eyes they've only just now figured out that updating their browser more than once a decade is good, and that search is an important part of the internet. I'm not going to help them out with their reinvention of themselves. I might be able to work up enough feeling to care about the higher click through rate right enough, but I'll test that some other day.

if you want to rank better in bing or yahoo, you need to be more concern on the on-page SEO. Bing and Yahoo seems only care about the on-page SEO

This is a normal On Page tactic which we apply in every website.. its doesn't seem any advance tactic or information to get rank on bing..

make sure you have indexed your site on bing and yahoo webmaster tools and this will help you see where you may be going wrong. Google is the most popular of the search engines so its great that you are ranked at number 1 but this does not always mean that the page itself is great with a decent page rank, it may simply mean that Google does not have as much competition for your websites theme than perhaps Yahoo and Bing may have. All search engines use different algorithms for deciding where you appear on searches so it is hard to give a reason why this happens since there are many many diffrerent reasons this can happen, however a lot of the time people focus on Google so much and forget about the other search providers. Simply being at number 1 for Google does not ensure decent listings with other directories. simply concentrate on these providers for a while and the results will come flooding in.
