Has anyone else heard the rumour that MS and Yahoo will join forces to create some sort of monster search engine... So basically, you will have Bing, Yahoo and MSN put together into one. Any thoughts on this?

Yahoo will be using Bing's search engine. That's it. That's what you heard. Since that occured, Yahoo has lost half its market share. Good job Bing.

This is very old news and Yahoo/Bing have already combined their efforts to try and give a good competition to google in the SE segment... but the stats/results so far have been fairly unsatisfactory. In hindsight, it appears Yahoo was better off without partnering with MS!

It's basically Bing + Yahoo. I think it's still a small step until there is some competition on the SE level because Google sends over 80% of traffic to the websites I have ran in the past, compared to other Search Engines.

Only benefit is a possible bidding war between Google and Microsoft over Y's search business.

I don't think it will make any difference in short term, Google still has over 80% of search traffic.

After the Bing and Yahoo business venture Bings market share has increased little bit . Google chief executive Eric Schmidt has said that Microsoft’s Bing search engine was the company’s main threat.
