usually for a filehost, download managers is not allowed for free users. some allows but you can only do 1 connection. downloads is also non resumable if you are a free user and captcha is in-place to prevent third party autodownloaders. speed should also be limited for free users.

this is set to differentiate the free and paying downloaders, i hate to say this but mosts filehost set this restrictions to annoy free users and force them to buy premium accounts if they really want to get the file instantly

 

Guys, read FS-IT's post again. It doesn't say download managers will not be allowed, it says code has been tightened so they have to obey the rules. This is not particular to FileSonic, all hosts periodically change their code to close holes open to abuse. Are you seriously going to tell me you've been using IDM or JDownloader for more than a few months without installing updates? If so, I guarantee you're not dl'ing any files from FileFactory of FileServe among others.

It seems you fail to realize the load problems these abuses are causing. Do you want stability? Which do you think deters potential downloaders more, a 10 minute wait time or servers continually offline and files unavailable? It is hard not to recognize how these changes are going to increase both downloads and sales.

 

no but you don't understand, even with premuim account i had the worst experience, 1st of all filehost doesn't support IDM, and i have been told to use jdownloader which is too heavy on my windows vps with all the java crap, but thats not the worst, today i added a list of filesonic to Jdownloader and almost of files won't download but when i add them to the browser they're there and downloading, one more thing even that i'm logged to filesonic with my premuim login details when i try to dll a file from the browser it still asks me to either download with highspeed or free, if i click highspeed it redirects me to buy premuim :/
buying premuim is supposed to make our life easier but that's not the case with those guys, and who do you think you are saying that download managers needs to update thier system for your site, i hardly think they'll ever do that with an unstable service like yours, just stop being lazy and sort ur things out

 

I had no idea free users could download in parallel with no restrictions. I would think downloaders would have been happy about it or mentioned it everywhere but instead they complained about downloads not working. So what you are saying now is this is supposed to fix all the server problems and bad gateway errors, etc.? I guess we won't have to test our links since they will all work now. Works for me. Cool.

 

1- We have no control over jdownloader and IDM. It is up to them to support premium downloads on FS. I am guessing that they will as soon as they realized we changed our system.
2- Once you log in as premium, you should be able to download a file directly by just clicking on its link (or entering it in the URL bar). If you have issues with this, please let me know.

 

Guys, please don't forget to give me any feedback on downloading as a free or premium user through your browser. So far, I'm not hearing anything so I'm assuming it's all good. If you have issues, a detailed description of the problem would greatly help us resolve it quickly.

Yeah, it seems OK through FIrefox, non-resumable seems to be the only downside there. Then again, they were non-resumable in IDM so that was no big deal really. I had no idea you could parallel download as a free user and I wasn't complaining about these changes coming in to ameliorate server load. It was more the myriad error messages with no explanations, they all just made free downloads frustrating.

I take it the timer is now set at a constant 10 minutes between free downloads? Seems that way now but will this change? It's not a problem, it just would be nice to know the rules.

The non-resumable download is on free of premium downloads? It is not meant to work on free, but it should work on premium. If it doesn't work on premium, please let me know.

For now, the waiting time is 30 seconds on the first download, and 10 minutes for the second. We have not finalized a waiting time for 3+ downloads, so we've set it to 10 minutes for now.

 

Filehosts do not "support" download managers in the terms of compatibility, download managers "support" filehosts. Take a look at the latest two changelogs for JDownloader:

Nah.....IDM and JDownloader never have to adapt to the various filehosts, do they? Stop being lazy and offer constructive criticism if you truly want to help FileSonic improve their service.

 

Please contact Jdownloader to ask them to revise their code. I will try to do the same tomorrow.

Three months have passed since you changed to filesonic and you said the fuction would be added soon.
