"If you do not have a FileSonic Premium account, certain restrictions may prevent you from downloading: We do not allow more than one concurrent download per IP address and also limit the amount of data you can download from our servers within a certain timespan."

I read this in the FAQ. What is this timespan? It would be nice if this was made clearer, how long do I have to wait between downloads? The countdown just resets to 10 minutes, fails, resets, fails, resets...

Also a new url with "not_allowed" appears every time FS does manage to send a file to my download manager (IDM) and the download (of course) fails. Does this mean download managers are no longer allowed for free downloaders? Again it would be nice if this was made clear, thanks.

 

I also did not get my payment even though FileSonic says they payed me. My account is paypal. I sent a reply but yet no respond.

Stats are working fine, it is downloads that are not. FS still does not have the download module they installed during "maintenance" working. Not many files have been escaping the servers during the past four hours. Log out of your account and try to dl a file. You'll see connection errors and 7008 errors on 9 of 10 downloads and those that get through are going to transfer at 5-10k. Hopefully, they will work out the issues soon. Once downloads begin to move, stats will begin to move.

 

The update that you entered does not work well ... only premium users can download .... fix

As I said in the previous post, they know and they're working on it. Please have some patience. This was a necessary upgrade to counteract the overload problems that are plaguing the system. I'd rather lose some time today and have a working site next Sunday. Sunday is the best day for file hosts and affiliates. Can you remember the last time the FS system didn't crash and cost us a Sunday? I'm sure they'll restore stability before heading out tonight.

 

So I guess it doesn't pay to upload and post any files right now? Is that what I'm reading. Sorry but I've been away for a while. Please let me know. Thanks.

 

Bit of maintenance today I see. Still having problems downloading today. At least thru JDownloading. Says Failed Cloning connection yet its still sorta downloading. Weird.. Did a restart looking for a plugin error. It fixed the RS plugin fail, but not FS.

 

We deployed a new download system. The effects are as follows:

- The timer rules will always be respected for free users, as will the rules for parallel downloads (this wasn't the case before, unfortunately)
- Download managers may not work for free users until the download managers are recoded. In the past, download managers were used to bypass the timer, captcha and other rules of our system. For obvious reasons, this will not be allowed anymore.

If any of you have download issues related to genuine web-downloads as free or premium users (i.e. no download managers, no funky business), please report back to me the exact error, along with the link you are trying to download. It would also help if you can mention your browser version.

So downloaders won't be able to use a download manager now either? With all these problems and the site not working properly why are you concentrating on captcha codes and putting on more restrictions to further piss downloaders off? Makes no sense. At least get the site working reliably first before putting on further restrictions and increasing wait times. Now we're gonna have more hell to pay from our downloaders. I have no sales at all today as it is. This is really gonna help matters. Jeez.

 

What error did you get?

 

A business cannot survive with the amount of fraud and trickery (all leading to overloaded servers, on top of financial loss) we've been experiencing. This had to be done, especially that we didn't add a single new restriction; we just implemented the ones that were supposed to be there in the first place.

And the new system will boost your sales, not decrease them. Think about it: if you're a free user who can abuse the system to download 20 files in parallel, why would you ever buy premium. As for download managers, it is up to them to adapt their software to our system. Asking us to be open for abuse is just not a reasonable request.

 

I had loads of the same errors with IDM, turns out I had to google on whether or not FS had stopped allowing download managers (didn't find out through this site, unfortunately). Now that this is the case, the only way I can download as a free user is by bypassing all download managers and letting Firefox handle it. This is not good news, since even with a free account the downloads are unresumable, and with the poor speeds a broken FS download is almost inevitable. There seems to be no good news
