    I believe this if not the first is a rare occasion where Schmidt has revealed something in respect with Bing.

    exactly. i was about to post the same. classic sun tzu. everyone knows bing isn't a thread anymore. it just scares off new entrants - who wants to go against MS? and it keeps the real threats complacent.

    Since Yahoo search will be powered (and in some places already powered) by Bing, Yahoo decrease of 3% actually contributed to Bing increase of 3%.
    So, the Google vs Bing+Yahoo hasn't changed yet.

    Im surprised Bing still only has that little market share, I thought after their aggressive marketing campaign they would have more.

    Hope Bing will do better as healthy competition between Google and Bing will benefit all of us.
    tired of being so dependent on google... have to say though that my ranking is much better in google than bing.

    Bing is the only threat because... google cannot buy microsoft, as well as microsoft cannot buy google. I think if there would be some great search technology that would bring good results quality, Bing will make a good step if find that before google.

    haha. I was about to say this as well but you beat me to it.

    Obviously Google won't claim having Apple or Facebook as a threat because they're a search engine and not a social networking website or a cheeky iPhone seller. Google however has been trying to compete with these people underground so that the casualties when lost will only be minimal.

    Well it'll have to be something that Google can't easily counter attack. Decision Engine was easily smothered by Google Instant. :)
