German Interior Minister: Islam is part of our future

Why don't you get us back on topic by telling us what led to the German Interior Minister's comments. The bomb threads on the Berliner Staatsoper would be great for starters.

Might have had something to do with any lack of civility between you. In my experience, women generally really love having legitimate thoughts and feelings reduced to PMS. Much like the Victorian concept of "hysteria," it is a flippant, pat response guaranteed to raise offense.

I rarely jump on board on this issue, but I'd like to ask you: From my reading of it, there is no scriptural basis for modern Islam's treatment of woman. In Islamic theocracies, woman is abjectly subjugated (or, in the case of the Taliban, murdered for such "crimes" as walking on the street with another male besides their husband - I have witnessed the films and can never forget or forgive). What are your feelings on the subject?

I think the womens' treatment under the Taliban rule was either grossly misreported or highly exaggerated. Anyway, Islam respects the rights of women and has given them emancipation long before the Western world realises the concept.

The news report was taken from the BERNAMA news service, which you can see here. There are no mention of any "bombs" in the report.
