I have quite a few websites running that use Adsense. I have this one website, which I would not like to mention here, but it only gets 1 cent per click on average sometimes. For example, yesterday, it has had 500 clicks and only made $6 in revenue! That is completely horrible! The website is soccer related, and the ads have an extremely good CTR, but the revenue is so low that I have no hope in it. How can I optimize this? What should I do? I need serious help in this area.
500 clicks and only made $6 in revenue is pretty bad. Have you filtered out MFA sites? I didn't know soccer ads were so low cost per click..
Check out the MFA blacklist thing, see how many of those sites have ads turning up on your site, then filter them out.
Looking at the CPC at Google Keyword Tool for soccer/fifa, it is $1 - $2 per click, which would be incredible and would probably be possible. My site is related to a soccer player, and most the ads that are showing are directly associated with the player's name. Google Keyword Tool shows max CPC for the player's name to be 10 cents. And I do have MFA sites showing on my ads, which link to webpages that have just Google ads on them. How do I now re-modify the site and the ads to show soccer/fifa ads instead? I am not an adsense guru obviously.
Use the google section targeting to target the ads. Put a line like "You could play weel soccer if you used these and that products" and target the google ads for that. I got a increase of revenue and more relevant ads doing that. BUT, if you put the math on, $6 a day it´s still a good revenue if you let the website be. Let´s see. 6X30 = 180 - 1,25 (from domain maintenance - 15/12 = 1,25) - 10 (from hosting) it still makes you a profit of 168,75. If you put it in a 5 year period it will make you $10,125.00 witch is a very nice profit for no work done. I´m taking this position now. If the website it´s all optimized, and still don´t go anywhere, I just let it be and go for another one. In a 5 year period, as low as it pays, still will make me a profit.
i read sports sites don't generate much revenue. try targeting large sporting goods stores. maybe larger companies that sell product will pay higher.
Launch more sites. If you hit enough niches, you'll have some sites that make a lot per click and some that won't, but it'll average out.
I'm not sure how Google does this but I feel like everyday is chance... one day, I might be earning a lot per click but other days I get like less than $0.01 for like 5 clicks.
fan sites and other sites that get repeated visitors never get a big click rate. the upside is that you can drive a lot of traffic to this site then having a nich site SEO and make money from it. so i guess it boils down to how much money you make per day per site. you need to work this out and choose things that you thing are right to grow. i am personally moving away from high paying few clicks to low paying more no. of clicks. need to maintain a balance in this.
