The main question is this, why would Google be interested in entering the domain industry? The only thing that they have near that is Google Sites, it would give them a chance to build publicity on that application but would it give real impact? Or perhaps would they have their own parking page?

I don't know, but if google does buy it...whoever has domains with godaddy will soon have a new way to make money. that's for sure

Yahoo is going down , I am not sure ┐(´ー`)┌ if they have the funds to sustain themselves let alone buy a multibillion business. Though i agree when you say it can perfect their hosting biz.

Google is far richer, if they wanted to build a host they would and it would easily become a hit because of how many people visit Google daily.

I don't have my domains with GoDaddy. Whether GoDaddy will be rechristened as GoMummy after the sale!?:D

Probably because management couldn't put together an IPO
to make more money. So they're cashing out.

I bet you they're going to start something else.

godaddy is up for sale, i think because they do not manage the company very well. I am one of their customer not feeling okay to host and buy domain from them. Loading site is too long, and the price is more higher etc. they just popular with their image, Danica Patrick...:)

No one is thinking about its competition. Though then again, is its competition rich enough to purchase Godaddy for such a price.

A GD sale would probably be great if they revamp that ugly domain interface.

I would personally not be happy if Google purchased Godaddy. I would be a little bit suspect that with Google being so strict on their SE algorithm that they would be inclined to look into domains (even those privately registered) in an attempt to see those that might be using grayhat techniques to influence search engine rankings. I am pretty much all whitehat, but still, a lot of people use techniques that i consider valid techniques but Google would probably frown on it.
