Hi everyone, I have a small online news release service where webmasters and small business owners publish their press releases. Day before yesterday I came to know that there was a latest coupon on Godaddy for this september which offers one dollar (99cents) domain names. So I just tried to pick the material and published a post. Made a few social bookmarking and pinged with all the major ping services. And to my surprise the page is now #1 on Google for the same keyword. Yes, it's not that competing and not that expensive but still it shows that still pinging and social bookmarking works. Yup, 100% still works for a quick index. In fact it is still one of the fastest ways to get individual pages in the index as well even on old websites
YEAH.. and to make things good it ranks for the keyword 'one dollar domain name' as well - LOL!! on first page!! (it may be because the post is very new - the SERP may be dropped after a day or two I'm not that sure - or may be because its a press release page)
Yes of course it works. Any links you get to your website will increase the score in almost all cases. Some will increase more than others, but they all add to it.
yes i too agree to your point that social bookmarking and pinging helps a lot to get traffic and increase our SERP's
i yet not get anything new technique ...i just know Google now more priority Quality Content...I think all work still working.
Yes social bookmarking is still helpful ... and this is must if you are posting new posts to your blog. At least go for 20 or 40 social bookmarking.
I din't do 20 or so. Just 5-6 bookmarks. And yeah, I also thought that this is just because the post was new. But the page is still there on the SERP..!!
Will pinging ping-o-matic alone work to index that page? or you still need to do the bookmarking thing?

Yes, I realised this for my blog as well, I got ranked high when I used social networking sites. It does work. But you've really just alerted so I'll definitely continue to do more.

I find pinging temporary, and bookmarking more permanent. I don't ping as I believe slow and steady to the top. I do social bookmark, as those stick.
Yes Bookmarking and Pinging both are working till today. I use to ping my website for any new update and get cache soon by Google.. Bookmarking also do the same.
Sometimes we can only rely on the bookmarking,,, I found that the top20 bookmarking sites suggested by people are good, althought it takes time to register and to post.
I dont know about the ranking but yes its still does index pretty well and the way it works is pretty simple - you boomark or ping your website with websites that get crawled very very fast you bound to be indexed fast.
