Can anyone recommend a good Directory script?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can shed some light.

I'm starting a new directory, my first directory. I've browsed through quite a few directory scripts and narrowed them down to one, but I'm still on the fence about it..

Esyndicat is looking like a solid choice so far. I'm not looking for a free script, paid only!

My major concern with esyndicat is that I'm not sure if there's any wordpress bridge that I could install so that I can keep my directory fresh with new content - not just links..

    So, what are my options???

    phpld is the easiest choice..

it's very easy to update content there, add articles and even youtubes.

you can make great directories, just need some php skills or to pay someone who has there, although many modules are available and just needs to be installed..

I did a lot of research a year ago - it came down to two: phpld and esyndicat. I went will esyndicat only because it was better suited to certain specific needs I had and have been happy with it. Their support always responds to tickets - although they can that a couple of days when they are busy. I don't think you could go wrong with either one. I'm not using it with wordpress, so you would need to check with company to see if either one would work.

Thanks for all of the replies, they've been helpful : )

Yes, phpld and esyndicat are the top togs, however, I beginning to lean towards phpld now! Lol... Both have plugins to run wordpress latest post, or to have the directory run off of the wordpress home page. But for a beginner, phpld has the best support for when the "sh*t hits the fan" sort of speak : ! That's the problem I'm having right now, nobody to give me a straight answer, or an answer to begin with over at esyndicat : (

Basically, this isn't a directory I want slapped together. I've been planning structure, seo, categories, latest posts for a while and now I'm ready to get started...

I really love kwika.org directory, very clean and organized and how I'd like to have my directory also...

If you want it to be successful get ready to invest quite a bit of time unless you're targeting some good keywords or have a good keyword and pr rich domain..

Yes. I too support PHPLD. Had been using for more a year now. Very good software and good support. Few insignificant demerits though. No much features. But worth the price, i guess

I studied about 10 different directories about a year ago and I can up with phpld and esyndicat as the best.
I went with esyndicat it is a good script support can be slow.. if you need it 2-5days for a response. The forum has a decent amount of info to do searches and trouble shoot stuff.

All in all I am happy with esyndicat it has been preforming well the only thing I have to complain about is the slow support. they really need to hire someone to deal with it.

I do agree. PHPLD is a very good choice. Need not know much php. Its simple and fast loading. Easy to maintain GUI too!
