    Hello,

Have a look on new developed from scratch PDF ebook/document search engine (based on google API).

    Site: http://pdfsearcher.com/new/1.php

    Cool features:
#1 ability to search within the documents text (PDF) itself not only website/document name keywords
#2 will support online direct convert from PDF to plain text
#3 read online, convert and download or email link/file to user or friend
#4 preview of PDF files in form of a picture (of first page) is done for first 3 results for performance reasons (will improve in future)

Review design and functionalities and if you find it attractive overall. All comments will be appreciated, critical eye will be taken into consideration (also for new features we are open).

Note: now SE display only first 16 results but will offer full result pages after BETA

    Future improvements:
    - see what people search in real time
    - top search term stats
    - multi language/geo searching
    - saving all results for feature use/speed
    - facebook application

    Waiting your feedback!

    Cheers.
    R.

Very interesting idea, and after using the search it looks very promising. Lots of university students can utilize something like this.

Would like to see catogries of some items that are loaded onto the site. Mabye I don't want to search for a PDF, and just browsing. A library of sorts would be beneficial for these type of invididuals.

    Thanks for comments!
We plan to add most document extensions (.txt, .doc, .rtf, etc). Most interesting is the option to search within the text document itself not only keywords (domain+file name+website, etc). This is unique I say as all the other sites allow only keyword searching not full text like PDFsearcher.com. In plain text files it is ok but PDF is more tricky so this is really neat.

    All the best,
    R.

One more addition will be mobile version. Mobile version will allow viewing PDF files online without PDF reader installed + simple design for all phones.

    Any more comments?

This is a good idea. On the search results page, I would shrink the search boxes to one horizontal line so the results are more apparent. Also, some images would be helpful, if you have access to the PDF covers

    Thanks all for your comments.

Regarding PDF covers I can show them all but the problem is that in order to make picture of first page the only way (I found) is to download entire PDF and if one has 10 MB for instance speed of showing results will be slower.

Idea is not new but I take it to the next level (searching in PDF / document text itself and some other cool functions).

    All the best,
    R.

I like the idea. Clean looks, but I think I would like the search box moved up some more. Perhaps side by side with search and intro?
Also searching "secret", it found 130000 documents in less than 10 seconds. But for the first time search, it displayed "0" text line between the search box and the result box. Thought that was strange, but on subsequent search, the text "0" line did not appear. Perhaps debug mode was on?

Thanks all for you nice comments!

I've moved search box up, under PDFSearcher logo, moved about description in the bottom of the page ;)
'0' zero line was for debug.

We added NEXT/PREVIOUS buttons, enabled more than 8 results and removed size/first page preview. Now results are displayed in aprox. 1 second !

    Stay tuned for more features.

    R.

It's a great idea however it is painfully slow. It would be a great part of a bigger site including a forum and a blog perhaps, even a social network would fit in here. But for now just work on speeding it up as most people won't wait that long for it.

Thanks all for your nice comments.

Sandy> Speed is no longer an issue as I removed PDF preview, try direct link to main page: PDFSearcher.com
It is loading results in under 1 second...let me know how this works for you now.

Did anyone tried to search via TEXT IN PDF option (second textbox), let me know about the result and if you find what you were looking?

    All the best to all,

Thanks, your comments will push us to more unique features and proffesional services.

    New features comming from Oct/2010:
    - plain text conversion from PDF -> formatted text (great efforts are underway to get here)
    - mobile version of the site
    - recommend button and Facebook like/share buttons
    - 'Mark it' button - when you find a good PDF document (manual, user guide, ebook) that matched what you searched for you can mark it and feature users that search same thing will have it on top results.
    - online conversion tools: PDF->html, PDF->picture, URL->PDF
    - store your PDF files in your profile on site (share it or not)

Any other useful features which will make your PDF document handling easier ??? we are open...

    Regards!

We changed search syntax, should find better results.
Starting 30/09/2010 we will switch to new version (all new functions implemented).

Thanks all for feedback and support (PM).
