    I usually smoke as much pot as a bag big as my head would fill. Then i play counter-strike or write lyrics.

    I usually just do things i would enjoy doing in none depressed state. Even though they might seem boring, dall or pointless you need to get off your ass and push yourself into doing these things. I usually see improvement after a few days.

    If its a short term depression (eg. a lot of stress at work, problems with your gf etc) i go out and get absolutely trashed in some place with loud music. This helps me forget about all my problems at least for one night. You should not get too carried away though... Unless you want to deal with an alcohol problem as well later on.

    - Eat constantly or not eat for days

    - Try to be alone - I hate to be a drag on those around me - having a depressed guy mopeing around is just a buzz-kill ;)

    - Try to 'put on a happy face' for the family & for co-workers

    If you don't eat, your body can't make the hormones or whatnot it needs to allow you to be happy, and to regulate your mood. Plus you'll get irritable if your blood sugar gets too low.

    I believe you need certain fats, and oats are supposed to be good for preventing depression. You should consult a dietician or GP for the best advice on this. Bingeing or starving will definitely make you feel worse, and maybe lock you in a vicious cycle.

    all i know is that when you are depressed, things like overeating and drinking heavily are the worst things that you can do. That is when you don't naturally deal with your issues. When you start drinking or doing hard drugs, it will definitely turn into a nasty habit, because chances are you will feel like there is nothing else in the world that could make you happy.
