I started to setup this business, but got tied into other projects, so after spending over £2500 in setup, have to let it go without really starting its rollout: (have a look at the sites to find out what its about)

    www.daycarecam.co.uk
    www.childcarecam.co.uk
    www.carecams.co.uk
    www.carecamsfranchise.co.uk
    www.daycarecams.co.uk
    www.dccview..co.uk
    www.homecarecam.co.uk
    www.petcarecam.co.uk

    Included in the sale:

    All domains and sites
425 full colour folders and 6 inserts each (cost £1138) (no telephone/address details on the prints)
    Secure (https) viewer
Bank account - Care Cams Ltd (if you want it and it can be transferred)
Registered Ltd Company 100% - Care Cams Ltd (if you want it)
All artwork and logo deisgns - PSD and PDF files
0845 telephone and fax numbers (through SIPGATE)
    Edimax IP wireless camera
    DDNS account
    Secure Login Manager
    Registration Manager
1/2 day meeting in UK for handover etc at agreed location
receipts for everything I have paid for.

In summary, daycarecam (care cams Ltd) is a business that porvides Childcare/Nurseries/Elder Relatives etc multi camera systems and bespoke viewers that :

    * allow your clients clients (ie: Child Nurseries clients - the parents) to view what is going on in the nursery over the internet through the clients website (the nursery)
    * We do not use the proprietary software included/embedded in the cameras, we designed our own.
    * are branded to the clients website/requirements/business , therefore appears as part of the clients website
    * Have additional layers of security , including two levels of password protection, hidden domain, and connected through https encrypted protocol.
    * Have user management facilities that enable the client to control who, what days and times they can view the system
    * Enable the client to use the system as a cctv system if required

Note all modifications and security layers and stripping out of embedded software etc was done by us and contractors.

For more explanation, please read the site www.daycarecam.co.uk , also you may want to look at the main UK competitor www.nurserycam.co.uk whom charge around £2000 for a system, daycarecam is geared to providing the same quality system and software to clients at around £500 for a basic system, therefore undercutting the competition.

It is a full business that once launched will require 9-5 customer service and response. My strategy was to configure everything at my premises - mainly IP addresses and DDNS on router and IP cameras (takes about an hour and half to configure), and to do local installations myself (If you can fix a screw into a wall and run a cable, its easy), and get I.T. contractors to do the installs when not local, but again I would do all the configuration first for both security and minimising install times & customer disruption.

Once the install is made, the client then pays a fixed amount per month for maintenance / support, which is actually where the profit is.

I'm sorry to let it go after all the work I put into it - it took me around 6 months to put the whole thing together - but I just can't commit to it right now.

As stated, I had not begun the roll out, so no revenue, although enquiries had been received from organic traffic.

Great concept, but did you run into privacy concerns?

Thanks. No privacy issues really, as the system is secured by https certificate, and multi layer security. Operationally the nursery can/will inform their customers of the system, legally as you are not storing any data , therefore it is not covered by the data protection act, but you can register for the data protection act if you want. Simply put, if the Nursery wants to use the system it is their choice, and most parents understand the benefits of it, if a parent doesn't want it then they will put their child in a different nursery. Thanks.
