What would be the reasons to google to ban or penalise a site ? Few things that could cause it...

    I would appreciate any answers.

    Regards,

If the poster was referring to adsense but no mention of adsense was made....

You can get penalized or banned in Google for a number of things. Hidden text, cloaking, doorway pages, no content, duplicate content, same meta tags for multiple pages, linking to bad sites(sites that google has penalized or banned) are just some of them. But these are the main ones. I suggest reading up on BlackHat and unethical seo and whatever methods they use stay away from. Also be sure to stay unique and keep updating content.

no adult content, crack, etc. never use the word "click this"/"click here to support me" and point to your adsense, do not give title for the ads other than "Sponsor Links/Ads"

A few other reasons why Google might ban or penalize your site are Duplicate Content, Keyword Spam and Keyword Stuffing, Linking to bad neighbourhoods, Code Swapping etc.

I asked this in another thread but a few opinions never hurt. Do you atleast get a decent warning. For example you mentioned that I could be banned for linking to a bad site, however I might not realise that the site has a poor reputation with adsense.

    Quality guidelines - specific guidelines

    * Avoid hidden text or hidden links.
    * Don't employ cloaking or sneaky redirects.
    * Don't send automated queries to Google.
    * Don't load pages with irrelevant words.
    * Don't create multiple pages, subdomains, or domains with substantially duplicate content.
    * Don't create pages that install viruses, trojans, or other badware.
    * Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines, or other "cookie cutter" approaches such as affiliate programs with little or no original content.
    * If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.

If a site doesn't meet our quality guidelines, it may be blocked from the index. If you determine that your site doesn't meet these guidelines, you can modify your site so that it does and request reinclusion.

using hidden or auto generated text would get you banned
or if you link to many sites which are banned

    you get no warning!

They just ban you - however if this happens its not the end of the world, they will allow you to resubmit your site after its been cleaned up and you should get your previous standing with them within a few weeks - although they will not guarantee anything

A site getting hijacked by another site using a 301 or 302 redirect or other means can also cause your site to disappear from the index and look like it's a google penalty when it isn't.
