Did I put too many anchor text links on my homepage?

I have noticed that I have dropped off the first page of google for some of my keywords. This happened right around the time I updated my homepage and category pages. I added the picture links and text links for each category. There is already a horizontal nav with links AND a side nav with links on the home page.. Maybe there are too many links on my home page and google has knocked me for doing so??

Does this seem like too many links to the same page?

Should I have left out the anchor text links under each picture link?

CRAP!.. Yeah, I guess you can call me a noob for this.

When I change it back should I get my rankings back? or am I screwed?

My opinion on this would be that unless Google crawled you between the update and when you noticed the change in ranking that this is not what hurt you.

However if in fact that is the case all you would need to do is add a paragraph or two of content to your page to pad it but I do not think the links are the issue, only if you padded the anchor and other text with too many of the same keywords. You are not screwed but you will not rank back until you are crawled again which in some cases is everyday.

Hmm, Well I am removing the Links from below the images and leaving just the text. I guess that cant hurt. I only made them Links because I figured it would be GOOD for SEO. Now I am confused on what the real issue is with my drop in search results. I will try to add the paragraph of text on my homepage and see if that helps out any.

If you put it back the way it was, give it a little time unless you get crawled every hour.:p After week or two and no change, I would be concerned about other problems. Checked your backlinks lately?

too many outgoing links may affect your ranking , try to revert back those changes and see what happens.

when you make change you need to give some time to see the real results, some times Google detect changes take you down than after few days take you back up, also, outgoing links for sure decrease you page rank.
