If you are a blogger, what's your prefer? Dofollow or nofollow? what's the benefit? I turned my blog to Dofollow, just because I like to see more dofollow blogs. But, for the long run, will it hurt SEO?
As Google guys says: Use nofollow on advertisements... http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96569 But it will do no harm if you use outbound links from your blog, just dont overdo it Cheers,
add do-follow for a new blog, make it grow cause people commenting to make their back links... they add content , u win. in long run, disable to no-follow
The web 2.0 is all about community, relationships, and user created content. If you turn your blog to do follow that is good thing. You will get more and more traffic in return. Visitor will get link.
frankly speaking, these two are very important for a blog promotion and SEO but the things how effectively we use them for our blog.. Making "do-follow" to all post and "no-follow" to comments are good.. but for a NEW blogger making a blog to "do follow" is best choice
If you have changed your blog to dofollow then tell to your visitors. You will get good comment contributions from your visitors..
Thank you all for the helpful reply. Your replies make me believe that allowing dofollow comments will be good for both the visitors and my blog.
Basically: DOFOLLOW allows you to create a community and promote your blog. NOFOLLOW allows you to retain your page rank Initially, as you have no PR and no visitors, DOFOLLOW allows you to create traffic. Once you get a sufficiently high PR, you may wish to change to NOFOLLOW. In any case, if you use DOFOLLOW, make sure that the comments are moderated, so as to trash spammers. Check out two interesting articles on PR and NOFOLLOW, one from Matt Cutts and one from Google Webmaster Central: http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/pagerank-sculpting/ http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96569
Dofollow attracts spam, but it also brings in visitors. on my blog I had a total of 500 comments at one point. 300 were marked as spam, 195 I knew were spam but they put a little extra effort into their post, and 5 had actually read my posts and had something to say about it.
No..if anything it will help your SEO efforts because major search engine algorithms like Google's like sites that link to other relevant sites(which is what a do follow tag essentially does!). Plus, most other bloggers will interact more with a fellow blog that is "do-follow" than not because it gives them some link juice p.s. Of course ALL THE ABOVE equals more traffic..
My blog are all dofollow few years ago butall of them was changed to nofollow last year due to too many spammer
This is hearsay / assumption. It's very common to hear people say "oh if you don't use nofollow the spammers will come" - it just doesn't happen like this. Whether or not you use the nofollow attribute, the spammers will come. It really doesn't make a difference to spammers, I have some blogs which are no follow & some which aren't, there's absolutely no difference in the level of spam. If anything I would say that not using nofollow will actually attract more real comments - because often those who are putting in the effort to check whether the blogs they're commenting on are nofollow are not, will also put in the effort to leave a comment which has some value & won't just be instantly deleted.
