    hi,
i got a infraction because of a post

i can not denie the reason of it , and i agree with the reason of the infraction (its not the reason why i posted it , but i can understand the reason of it )

now the thing i find not fair and where i like to have a explanation about is why i get the infraction when the user above me got basicly the same post as me and his post is still there and he do not get a warning/infraction

here is the post i am talking about

    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1935790&p=14943564#post14943564

here is the quote i am talking about
    first goes his quote
and this was my post below it
now it would be nice to explain why i get that infraction and the other user not

this was the reason of the infraction
like i say before , i cant denie the reason and i understand the reason of infraction but i am just wondering what makes the difference betwean me and his post ??

    Thank you

Maybe he got an infraction but his post is not deleted, I don't know.
As you say, it's a bit unfair but how do you know he did not get an infraction? Does the posts always get deleted if someone gets an infraction?
Also, in order to get an infraction you often need to be reported, right? So maybe he was not reported for running up his post count.

Just some thoughts of mine. :)

Maybe someone reported your post, but not his. If you see something that violates our rules, use the "Report Post" button and someone can look into it.

    that is possible
but i know where i dit something wrong and thats why i agree with the infraction

but 2 infractions for the same kind of post is kinda mutch :p but thats not where it goes about at this moment

i am sure that a mod readed that forum , as my first post i made got deleted (i wasnt sure that i posted it as i coulnd found the post back when i checked again , but a forum always post your post exept if it get a database error)

anyway , its still possible like you say that only my post is reported (both posts ?) and that they only gave a infraction for them as they do not see the tread where it is located (report mod :p )

if only my post was reported then to bad for me and then i got the explanation why it happends

if it is a other reason then it would be nice to know , but probaly only the moderator who took care of it can thell me that ^^

then to explain why i am almost sure why he do not have a infraction is because his post is not deleted and my post is (you dont give a infraction and leave a post alive for the reason i got )
but i can be wrong to and maybe he got a infraction for a other reason

anyway , Thank you for your reply's , it basicly gave me a solution and a reason so i know why it was only me :d

and thats all i wanted to know

    Thank you

The Report Button has some value indeed. Shawn has explained. Someone might have reported his post. But basic thing we learnt is : be careful while posting in B/S/T.

    thank you ,
but now i got a other feedback that goes about a infraction that is 100% unfair

they expect from you that you goin start spamming users with pm's as it is not allowed to post the information that a user ask

i love to place the quote back here , but i think it would be a bit to mutch offtopic then for this feedback

    anyway to make it short
the topic goes about a hosting request
you place a reply with your hosting offer (what else do you need to say ?? )
and your post get deleted , you get a warning with this reason

    Reason: Inappropriate / Disallowed Post
    -------
Hosting offers belong in a PM.
    -------

so the thing they are saying is that you need to start spamming other users with your hosting offers as they "requested to be spammed" ??

i dont get the point of that part , why sending a pm if you got a forum to make a post ??

then the funny part of all , the infraction i got (that last 1 ) is a wrong infraction , i was not advertising or providing a complete hosting offer
as a hosting offer contains prices and links to order pages and more links
not just information with a request to contact if they are intrested

but thats how i see it :d and probaly not how they see it

anyway , if it is not allowed to make a reply on a post , whats the point then of a forum ?? , there are enouf blogs/scripts that can do the same as what they ask at this moment
prevent making a reply so you are forced to send a pm ... then no1 would complain

so the thing i like to ask from the admins/mods is what dit i do exactly wrong and why is it not allowed to make that post ... so i can try to figure out what whent wrong with my posts that got deleted (and we are back on 0 posts from the 4 posts  and we got 3 infractions for those posts ... )

its not that some1 report a post that it need to be deleted and need to get a infraction because the post is reported ??

sorry that this post seems a bit bad , but i try to figure out why it get done and i basicly try to figure out what is allowed to post here at this moment with out getting a infraction ??

    Thank you

    @PowerChaos - You've mentioned a few things.

    1. Mods don't have time or inclination to read every thread for which there is a reported post so if there was a similar post above yours, report it.
    2. You can ask questions in a sales thread but anything along the lines of 'PM sent,' 'interested,' etc. will usually get an infraction.
    3. If a user can't be bothered reading the rules for the Buy, Sell & Trade forum then it's their own silly fault if they get infractions. Here's one sticky thread you should read but in most of those forums there are sticky threads at the top. Read them!

    Thank you
    that thread helped me

probaly he was thinking of this
but then i still got the problem , how far can this go and what can be treaded like it

i know of a sticky rule that a mod got the last thing to say

anyway , every1 is differend and it depends what they feel like spam and what not :S

Thank you for your help and reply

If it is spam, they will undoubtedly delete & infract the poster.

;) If you see anything wrong that breaks the rules -- just hit the report post button in the bottom left.

The person above him was me. We co-own the same company, thats why he knows that I don't have an infraction.
My post is also gone tho, god knows why. Maybe because we both work for the same company?

What about when the rules change. I've been at DP for a long time now and over the time rules have changed. However, I haven't ever been notified of changes.

What am I expected to do? Re-Read the rules everyday?

It's not like we get an email or update stating "rules" have been changed read _____ and so...

You really shouldn't need to read the rules to be honest... it's mostly common sense, and if you *do* accidentally break the rules, the infraction is your notification of the rule. You would need a LOT of infractions in a short period of time to actually get banned.
