I recently installed wordpress on my go daddy account and it was successful but how do i get my domain to point to what i just uploaded instead of www.mydoamin.com/wordpress

Do I need to unzip the large file on wordpress.org and upload it to my file manager.

Did you use a script like Fantastico or Simple Scripts to install it? If so, it should be installed in your main folder or root directory. It sounds like you installed it in the wrong folder.

If you do a manual install you'll need to create a mysql database and modify the config.php before uploading it to your root directory.

Yeah.. you installed it on WORDPRESS folder.. don't include the Wordpress folder when uploading it on your hosting.. just the files inside of it..

If you haven't build links or just started your wordpress blog, i would re-install again, because it won't hurt, but not in a folder. If you install with fantastico, let the folder box empty, if you install manually, after uploading wordpress files, move the files from "wordpress" folder to the root (can be htdocs, www, or public_html).

    Good luck!

login to wordpress admin and change the settings to point to domain.com rather that domain.com/wordpress then

login to the godaddy hosting control center and go to file manager and move all files from inside the wordpress folder to public_html.

You have Wordpress installed in a sub-directory of your domain. This would be OK if you have a static website and added a blog. If all you want to have is a Blog then it should be installed in the root directory.

GoDaddy is probably one of the most unfriendly places to use for hosting. Their User Control Panel is a mess to work with and they do not offer Fantastico.

    Good luck.

    Amen brother.

GoDaddy is not fun, especially for a beginner.
