Suggestion Infraction Information

Just a suggestion - when someone gets an infraction it sometimes has a very generic description like 'inappropriate post', but to be honest I post a lot and have no idea which one might be 'inappropriate'. It would be great to have a little better description, a link to where the post is/was and/or a screenshot if the post was removed.

I know it is up to us to follow the rules, but to be honest there are a couple of infractions I really have no idea why I got them (there are some that I probably deserve and have received).

Thanks for listening to my request.

    yes
we should get a PM about that we got a infraction
with a description and link to the thread where we get it

it will help us to know what is 'inappropriate'

You don't get a PM, but you do get an email (with the offending post in it's entirety included). Unless you specifically disabled infraction notifications that is... then of course you wouldn't get one.

I just posted in a thread to ask some information reagarding the thing he is selling. I was not interested in his price/i got the same thing which he was selling for free. But then my post was considered as an infraction.
I replied to the mail which was sent to me and again it was reported as an infraction....

Never ruin other's sales thread! If the stuff he is selling is free or copyrighted or so, report the thread using the report button!!

Everyone *should* know how to do it, because it's only disabled if the user specifically went in there to disable it. :)

    @Shawn

I assume each post isn't actually deleted, but is "soft" deleted. Correct me if I am wrong, but moderators can still see these "soft" deleted posts.

Why not allow the original thread starter to see it so they could see first hand what they did wrong.

It seems to me like with your coding skills, it would be simple if they only actually "soft" deleted to grant the permissions for the original poster to see it.

Doing a permission check on a per post basis is pretty expensive as far as database queries go, so it's not really practical (without wrecking the DB servers). You would have to do it per post since the posts could be otherwise identical, other than you were the one that made it.

Either way, you get the entire post contents within the infraction email already as it is. It would be much simpler to just read that email you already get. :)

:p Haven't gotten an infraction in so long, I forgot what it looked like. I didn't realize that it was in the infraction email, so disregard my idea :)

Random note: Is there any way you can make the tongue simile work with both
    :P and :p
    Code (markup):
    :p Doesn't work.

How about adding text "Please refer to your email for more details of this infraction" next to the infraction page or something like that? It seems a lot of people does not know they receive emails when they get infraction.
