Received today: Thoughts? Can't say it's a HUGE loss, commissions were very small, but there was a huge inventory. Maybe they will create an in-house program, with better rates!
Ouch! Thanks for the headsup. I can't say that I've made any money from Buy.com, but it is big news. I wonder if they will go with Linkshare or Google Affiliates...
I wonder... As I understand it, Buy.com is like a sort of super-affiliate, or drop-shipper, something like that, they don't actually have their own stock. So I wonder if they really have much margin to play with if they were to start an in-house scheme. Probably this move has something to do with this: "In July of 2010, Buy.com was acquired by Rakuten, Inc., Japan’s biggest e-commerce company." (Wikipedia) We shall see, I do have some buy.com listings in a couple of places, will take a bit of annoying reprogramming to set something else up.
You can try our offer with your traffic. We sell camera products that fall into electronic category and our affiliate program is through CJ too.
They are going with Linkshare. I have to rebuild one or two CJ Soap interfaces into Linkshare web service interfaces-- but this won't happen until after the holidays. Q...
Have their commission rates improved at all? I thought them leaving CJ might signal the start of a more serious in-house program with a decent API to try to compete with Amazon etc. Seems not though, just fell out with CJ or got poached...
Markowe-- -- I have used both CJ and Linkshare api-s. Why do you think Linkshare's is better than CJ's? Q...
I don't, I said "seems not". I mean, just moving to Linkshare is not a step up. Creating an incredibly rich and complex API like eBay and Amazon have, THAT would be a step up. I mean, if they want to sell stuff. Though I am not sure how they work exactly, they are a kind of super-drop-shipper, it seems to me, so maybe the API concept doesn't work for their setup.
