My friend's google account got disabled, it says

    Account Not Active
An AdSense account does not exist for this login, as it is associated with an unapproved application. For more information about your application, please review the message we sent to the email address you provided with your application.

and they sent him an email granting an appeal, which he wrote and now awaits his faite.

Does this mean that it's banned? Or does this mean that it's disabled? I don't understand? Is this temporary ?

I don't think it's banned because it sounds like it never was approved in the first place.

    What was in that message?

Ban is for life. Adsense account disabled is for Google team to check on the account ... though in most case it'll ended up getting banned :p unless the account holder can provide adequate stat to prove otherwise.

The best way is to check the email as registered with the respective Adsense account. By now, Google should have emailed why the account is suspended/banned.

Did your "friend" do something he knew was violating the TOS? How long was he with Adsense before they banned him? Did he get paid yet?
