not sure what keyword you are talking about Guru..the ones that matter is page one, and we are and have been in the local business results for the keyword phrases that pay off
The best method is a combination of all methods. Directory submission, article marketing, Small amount of Blog commenting, forum posting with signature, press release, social bookmarking( though considered spam) , social networking, squiddo lens ,Local directory, local classifieds.
white hat: For page rank and hence potential serp's ranking I'd suggest either utilizing one of your highest pr sites or purchasing one and utilize it to exchange links with similar ranking sites. I'd personally recommend engaging in three way linking architecture for this to prevent cross linking scenarios which could penalize your site(s). When exchanging links make sure you include your keyword in the anchor for serp's ranking. this is tried and tested and should get you there. For a more aggressive method (grey/black hat) you could utilize pingback - track back on sites/blogs where such links are 'do-follow' though I'd personally utilize a bridging site (a review site to your e-commerce site) encase it gets penalized, though to date I've only lost 1 keyword out of 18 doing this. As you know if your going to engage in grey/black hat make sure you keep under the radar.. Also to mention linking from article submission and good neighbourhood directories plus social -viral networks (eg youtube) is wise too, given that your account page in youtube is 'do-follow' which will help pr. other networks like twitter for example are no follow though could be good for traffic purposes. So basically your asking which method is better... spamming or spamming? As both of them are spammers' methods and shouldn't be really use by website owners. xrummer and scrapebox - will get you banned rather than improve your ranking... just search this forum and you'll see so many people try to recover from search engine ban. Well, don't spam and you don't get banned.
That is a variation of our main keyword..but not the money one. If you make all of your anchor text the same, you will get penalized. It becomes obviously "unatural". I would never have that as a siggy on a forum..unless I rarely posted.
I have been building tons of backlinks to my websites with little results, because what you want is backlinks with good titles and from sites _related to your business_.
Baclinks shouldn't be all one method (ideally you should be used to one method before diversifying) but backlinks can come from porfiles, articles, blog commenting, social bookmarks, social networking, anywhere and everywhere
From all the above replies we can conclude that Blogs thats the best place to get back links and its updated every time with fresh unique content every time with the power of commenting in blogs.
You could try Link Juicer. I use it. It allows you to write articles and blog posts and than it submits them automatically to several different sites. It uses spintext to make them different each time. You can go in and edit them whenever you want.
