    Hello Guys,
How much time do you think is needed for a new site(with a new domain) to crack PR 5(or higher) in a very competitive key words?? I know it will vary, I'm just asking for an average time. Given the facts that:
    1. The site has quality contents than its competitors
    2. Proper link building and SEO will be done
    3. Design and layout is also better than others.

    Let's have a discussion about it. :)

PR5 will require your getting high-quality links from relevant sites with good PR. Your speed in getting there will be almost entirely dependent on getting those links.

If you're in a hurry, just get two or three PR7 quality links to your site and hopefully it'll reach PR5 in about three to four months.

Now what do you mean by saying PR 5 for a keyword ?

All I can say is that you can achieve PR 5 in next mass PR update. All you need is a couple of PR 7 or a single PR 8 Permanent backlink in your niche.

If you build high quality back links from high PR sites and many other SEO sources, only then you may reach to this in a short period like 1 year.

Lol getting PR5 will really take time - unless your site will pass google's (Matt Cutt's qualities) requirements e.g. no outbound links........however, if you intend to target 5th page SERP, then that will depend on how tight is your competition.

it's depend on quality and relevancy of back links but you never get PR 5 suddenly. if you try to build links rapidly google may penalize you.

To be able to achieve high PR you need to have link from Good PR sites at least above PR - 4 links, your website need to have some quality to the area which you target, avoid linking to other sites to your website. If these links are relevant and are having authority then you will achieve PR-5 in 3-6 months i.e. in about couple of Google PR updates.

Well I dont think "Time" is a factor to gain PageRank except for waiting for the next possible Pagerank Update by Google.
You need to have strong backlinks from High pagerank sites (and trusted domains) along with regularly updated unique content on your site. Relevancy of those backlinks also matter a lot. If your site is hosting related you need to build links from Hosting related sites only to yield the best results.

Remember that PageRank is assigned to pages, not to keywords.

PageRank is a reflection of the number, quality, relevance, and PR of links pointing to your page.

The SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages) are what show how well your keywords are doing. It is possible to score high in the SERPs for keywords on a low-PR page.
