Does anyone have experience of this? am I likely to get slapped by big G? I mean if I buy gettothefrontpageofgoogle.com (or something :)) will they claim trademark infringement etc?

I am not sure whether google would actually slap you... but by registering such a name, you are surely opting to live below a hanging sword! :(

According to the National Arbitration Forum, Google has filed 88 Domain Dispute Cases since 2001. Over half of the cases have been filed since 2009, so it's safe to assume they are taking a more aggressive stance on protecting their trademark.

Not exactly sure about this but if you seen GoogleRankings.com, it's been online since many years ago. There do put a small disclaimer at the bottom thought which is ""Googlerankings.com is in no way affiliated, sponsored or in
any way the property of or responsibility of Google.com" but yeah, seems like a grey area with definitely some risk.

Don't you even think to get any domain name with google in it . I purchased one few years back and made one site on goggle adsense method . Just in few days big giant sent me mail to stop using domain name because the keyword has copyrights and if I don't stop using than they will take legal action on me .

Any domain name containing google can be taken, period (a name like googlesucks used non-commercially might be the exception). You don't get around trademark infringement by adding words to a trademark. Google a coined term that has been trademark and gone past the time period to contest the mark. Registering a domain gives you zero trademark rights. You need usage that would predate "Google's" usage (2003 or earlier). If your domain was registered prior to 2003, then you might have an argument against a bad faith registration, but almost any usage of the domain would likely bring suit for infringement. Keeping the domain in a lawsuit would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars or more (google has already spend $100 million in its Viacom case - and it will be a lot more before it's over). Even if you won, you would still be out legal costs. If you lose against a registered mark like google, the court could order you to pay treble their legal fees, plus damages. Risk losing millions for a domain that you couldn't use or monetize is not a wise move.
