Why is engadget allowed to have two sites that cover the same product, with exact same text which creates a duplicate in the search engines. I think this is extrememly greedy and unfair practice I thought that dulpicate content and sites in search engines was a bad thing. Engadget all the time recently list the exact same entries and text on engadget and it’s engadgetmobile and engadethd sites. here is a example: of engadget and engadgethd , they do it all the time all the time i see engadget and engadgetmobile http://www.engadget.com/2006/09/26/hitachi-wooo10000-series-of-60-and-50-inch-plasmas/ http://www.engadgethd.com/2006/09/26/hitachi-wooo10000-series-of-60-and-50-inch-plasmas/ http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLG%2CGGLG%3A2006-16%2CGGLG%3Aen&q=Hitachi+Wooo10000+ I can’t believe the aggornace and total greed of these people why are they allow to have two sites that cover the exact same content and product entries. if you browse theier site you will notice they have done this to 100's of entries Craig
Firstly, I've always thought engadget was a terrible blog. I just think it blows. Secondly, Google isn't doing anything beyond the norm. Engadget is an authority site and them linking to engadgetth dot com gives that domain more authority than the other sites listed below them in the SERPs.
If google thinks that engadget is a valuable site then its not going to remove them from the serps no matter what they do. Some of the results will be filtered I expect.
I've seen this on a few travel sites where .com and .co.uk is exact same content, and both pages are spidered in the results, and ranking well for both domains. If you joined them at the same game, you'd be the one that's shitted on from a great height. Just because your an authority site, it doesn't mean you can bend the rules, unless they are spending loads on AdWords
