DP Forums URLs, why are not they Search Engine Friendly?

Hi,

My question is why the URLs of DP forums are not search engine friendly. This conversion, if applied, should change the URL of this thread from something (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/forumdisplay.php?f=3) to something like this, http://forums.digitalpoint.com/suggestions-feedback/ . Same should be done for sub-fiorums/posts etc.

It'll definitely, as we all know, increase the traffic and that'll benefit everybody here.

I'm sure admin(s) and so many members have the domain knowledge and reasons to do it. I’m just curious why it has not been done yet.

Shawn likes them the way they are right now.

According to him, SE friendly URLs are just ugly looking.
And, why go for SE friendly URLs, when you rank #1 for some of the very competitive terms. Not to mention the PR8 it got in this update.

 

Thats what Shawn does NOT want!!! You should of seen his reply when he found out DP was banned from having pages submited to Digg!!!

 

Google has 662,000 pages from this forum indexed already. "?" in URLs is not SE friendly aint true anymore.

 

webmasterworld has that and more is always better.

What about the PRs of individual forums and threads? that can only help and wont hurt.

It seems there is some history to it which i'm not aware of yet. but this is the first thing i noticed here which looked strange to me.

 

did you ever see Bill Gate saying that MS has made enough money, now get free softwares. again more is always better

 

HUH? You mean Google should crawl more pages even if they dont exist???

 

honestly it wouldnt even matter. You can if you want to make them search engine friendly but it wont make a difference. because googles entire index on digitalpoint shouldnt change because all of the urls would be the same. like on wordpress for example if I had the original p=12312
it would still look like that on google and go to the actual post and still be a valid url even if i turned on perm links. so it actually wouldnt effect it.

i think the sheer volume of threads and posts is lot more @ DP & there are other search engines other than Google.

im talking about in all search engines, the urls will still be valid. because its just perm links, all it does is change the link to something else for the forums. All of the forums will still be the same because its just like adding

www.digitalpoint.com and http://digitalpoint and http://www.digitalpoint.com you can add any of them and they are still valid notice if you look in a PR tool each one of these has a different PR.

Atleast the way vbulletin is set up. Now, if he were to turn the function on it would change

In my opinion I would leave it the way it is, because it is doing very well.

I know this isn't the right thread for my question, but could somebody tell me why http://www.forums.digitalpoint.com/ doesn't work. Only the non www version works.

 

Semantic URLs are not more search engine "friendly"; it's a myth.

"www" is an abomination.

There's no need to change the way URLs are set up here. Bubba Shawn knows what he's doing.

And plus, he modified the archive so that its really search-engine friendly, so this site gets indexed pretty damn well!

 

Keyword based URL's don't help you to get indexed, but they do help you to rank better..

Lack of www is an abomination.

Anyway, dp doenst need to rank better, i can already rank #1 for the underwhear i wore monday if i post about it in general chat.
