Any idea, why tag are appearing on the url. today I just checked GA stat i found,

    A page viewed through "/tag/logo-for-it-services-company/"

I do not want tag to be on the URL

by the this is my permalink setting "/%category%/%postname%/"

It doens't have "tag" , still a url is generated.

    Thanks for your time.

The tags are showing up because WordPress automatically creates pages for the tags. You'll notice the '/tag/' in the URL means it's under than folder. Not a bad idea to just block the spiders from the tag page altogether. You can do that with a robots.txt file or by using Google Webmaster Tools. The Robots.txt file should work with Bing too.

Hey! You are Getting It Wrong! And The First One Guided you Wrong it Suppose :D

    Change your Wordpress Permalinks!!

As, You have an Established site as of now, Use a Plugin Called Dean's Permalinks Migrator and change the permalink structure!

Currently, it seems your PErmalink structure is %tag%/%Postname%!! Make it just %Postname% Can be done from Wordpress Dashboard --> Settings--> Permalinks!

Sorry, but i'm bit confused, first you are suggesting "Use a Plugin Called Dean's Permalinks Migrator and change the permalink structure!"

Then, "Make it just %Postname% Can be done from Wordpress Dashboard --> Settings--> Permalinks!"

which one I supposed to follow or both?
    my current setting is /%category%/%postname%/

    Thanks

I think someone might have tried (/tag/...) to view the page at the url and hence your GA stat have shown it, I have also seen some urls in GA account which I do not have in my site.

If you think it is a robot visiting that url you can just stop it by setting a nofollow to your tag pages.

Might be robot visited the link; as to visit the link for a normal visitor is bit tricky and have to do some changes at address bar url. a normal visitor will not take the pain. However Google has indexed the page "tag/some-post" ; it appears on search. And mmy problem is it will show a broken content.

What is tag pages? I don't have anything called tag pages. There are posts with tags. can you please explain. Thanks.

WordPress will create an archive for each tag you use, (similar to categories). It displays all posts tagged with the requested word. Those archives will have a url like domain.com/tag/your-tag-here/

As for as I know, you cannot stop wordpress from tag urls

You can add nofollow to all tag links with plugins like all in one seo or robots meta

I dont know if the Snippet is right!

BUt This is not What you should be Looking for!!

Coz, Your aim is not to deindex or stop indexing /tag/ and the rest, But prevent it to be occurring itself !

I know, I don't want to stop robots indexing "tag". However my website having one issue. when portfolio posts appears through tag based url it appears broken. I am fnot finding lot fo time to explore (this is my first wordpress based website) and I also don't want visitor to land on a broken page. So I thought for the time being If I should stop robots to indexing.

For example, URL from tag base http://inspirationsunlimited.co.in/tag/business-consulting-template/
    actual post :http://inspirationsunlimited.co.in/portfolio/?pcat=30

    Any trick avaiable? Thanks
