What is difference between pay per download and pay per sale? In other words, if I change when will it take effect and if I change back when will that take effect, etc.? I guess if I changed from pay per sale to pay per download then downloads will only be counted from that moment forward and not the whole day? Also the other way around? I seem to be getting decent sales lately so not sure what to do. Some days I get nothing though. As I understand you get 60% of all sales which adds up if consistent or a big day. Maybe someone could give feedback. Thanks.

Fileserve is a joke. I tried to download a file from them before and it wouldn't go past 20kb/s. Then it timed out so I searched for the same file on another host. If you guys like fileserve so much, go use fileserve? Seems like the logical option!

EDIT: found the exact same file on NETLOAD, getting free download speeds of over 200kb/s!

Look at your sales on a longer basis than (1) day. Look at your sales on a weekly basis or a monthly basis, this will average out the good days and the bad days. You then lowball, assuming that each sale is only for (1) month netting you $5.40. Does this amount equal what you are earning monthly or weekly from downloads? Now, remember that you lowballed your sales commission .Not all sales will be for (1) month only, thus your real earnings should be higher than your estimated earnings.

Lastly, even if you do not decide to move to PPS, re-visit the comparison occasionally. It could be that the monetary arguments can change the balance one way or the other in the future.

Thanks. I will have to monitor longer term. Some days I get 5 sales and then go 4 or 5 days with only 1 or nothing at all. Not sure if the stats are correct though. Thanks again for the rundown.

You're sending bug reports with a sample link as well, right? The FS guys do not monitor this forum around the clock. If you're only posting here, it could take them longer to become aware of the problem.

 

I do this for 12 hours .... but I have not stuck anything!

 

On the other hand, some people report speed between 600 Kb/s to 1 MB/s for free registered users. But that's probably with download accelerators.

It is quite not what people here WANT TO DO, but is more like what people here will be FORCED TO DO if the conditions for free users ONLY keep getting worse. Captcha isn't much of a problem since it has to be used for leeching defense, but lowering the speed for free users would be just too bad for this site. And requests alike. This always comes from people who are on the PPS scheme and want quick money on the go with less work, which is short term thinking that will only bury the site.
If YOU, people, want crappier conditions for free users - then why don't YOU people go to a crappier site that will give you that, instead of trying to turn this site into total shit for your own benefit. Other sites will also give you recurring payments and other PPS benefits. Great isn't it!?! MUCH better than Filesonic right?? But hey! after a while you might start asking yourself "why the F* is my site not growing as fast as other sites who give great free user speeds and better option for free users more and more every day?" Hmmm, maybe because your site went on short-term-thinking and only focused on those who will pay them, while other sites went on long-term-thinking and gave a good service to the whole world. And the more the site is spread - the more it will prosper. Works every time.

 

I sent a bug report as well, a lot of my files are getting a bad gateway as well. Even when I re upload them.

This site is full of bugs. The other day i uploaded 5 large files through ftp, and it was a successful upload, after a while when i checked my files in their site, it showed only one file. I searched allover but i didnt find other. Then i tried to upload other, from then till now, ftp errors.

I chosen this one because some of the other file hosting sites are banned in some big forums. This is not. i dunno why, mebbe these guys paid more to those forums.

I had a premium account there last month. After that i tried to download a file as a free user, it downloads till 40 or 50 % then stuck. I tried many times, but couldn't download a 30 MB file.

Whatever the speed is, atleast one could be able to download a file even at lowest speeds. Getting stuck at one point then re downloading entire file again and again is such a pain in ass even if its to free members.

 

Whoa whoa calm down. I'm actually just asking for the basic conditions that sharingmatrix had; the conditions that made it what it is today. I'm looking at the big picture too! A lot of people have begun switching their files to premium only to make a quick buck. I'd rather minimize the strain on filesonic's servers by putting up speed limits than have a system where small files can be premium only. These people are making other uploaders look bad. The speed limit doesn't have to be freakishly low either, it just needs to be there so that there's a clear difference between free and premium. Growth isn't the greatest thing for filesonic; if growth exceeds their ability to buy new servers and maintain them then the site will continue to crash. However, if more sales are made, they get more revenue and thus they can hire more people and buy more servers to fix their problems. If free downloaders get blazing fast speeds with no incentive to go premium, everyone will use the site and it will become overloaded again. At that point they'll have to stop people downloading like depositfiles do. Depositfiles are a very popular host yet they stop many people from downloading (myself included) with their "sorry there are no download slots available in your country" thing. They've managed to grow quite well despite this underhanded tactic. I'm not saying to copy them though.

The fact that you're very biased on this issue may have made you miss that I don't actually want the site to be crappy. I want it to be reasonable. Lowering the maximum speed free users have so that a distinction is made between free and premium is not CRAPPY. It's reasonable.

At least we agree on one thing, captcha should be reinstated.

 

I have just paid FS by PayPal and I didn't get my Login/Password info. I sent 3 emails to FS support BUT they just don't respond. I mean comeon !! U take my money & NO service.
