The opensiteexplorer of SEOMOZ and the Yahoo backlinks

Hello I know this may not be the best place for the question, but I think the staff here are already accustomed to using both tools.
In my case, the tool from SEOmoz opensiteexplorer (http://www.opensiteexplorer.org) says I have 200 backlinks (search for logoemarca.com). and the yahoo site explorer tool (siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com) says that I have 400. This happens with you too?
    Who to believe?
    Thanks!

I think, because they see the backlinks from different sources, ...

Yahoo Site Explorer is pretty agnostic about what it counts as an inbound link. Most other tools try to filter out what they view as spam links.

Hi there - I'm the CEO/founder over at SEOmoz and figured I could potentially assist. I left this comment - http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1915091&p=14829002#post14829002 - on another similar post, which should be helpful.

The major point I'd make is that no one source is more "accurate" than another - they all crawl different parts of the web at different times. Yahoo!'s index tends to be bigger and fresher than Linkscape's (they have much more resources than SEOmoz does), though that may change as Yahoo! is powered by Bing and may not be spending as much time/effort investing in their index quality/upkeep.

Google, Bing, Yahoo!, Linkscape (which powers http://www.opensiteexplorer.org) and Majestic all have different indices and will report different links. Yahoo! itself changes from day to day on the link counts much of the time. My best recommendation would be to compare your site to those of your peers/competitors rather than across multiple different indices.

    Hope that helps!

First, I just want to say it's nice to see Rand posting in forum. You sir def deserve SEO God title. :)

If one wishes to check backlinks, they should simply use Google Webmaster tools to see the number of backlinks. Google will give you total number of backlinks to all the pages in your website and it will let you download sample of url's in excel format.

Wow! Thanks for the very kind words.

The only thing I'd be cautious with from Webmaster Tools is sites with large quantities of links, where Google will only export a limited percentage of the link number they report. A consultant recently noted to me that for a client's site, only ~30K of several million links were available in the CSV. Also, more obviously, GGWMT only allows link data about your own site and doesn't provide it for competitors.

I wrote a bit more about this today here - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/6-ways-to-replace-yahoos-link-linkdomain-search-commands

I would like to know: When comparing the OSE, is shown Page and Domain Authority. Are they going to influence the re-positioning of Serps? That is, if I have a page and domain Authority of greater than my competitors, I will be above them in the SERPs? (Of course depending on the keyword, but I'm generalizing). I wonder too, if google is slow to re-calculate the page and domain Authority therefore see in this example, I have greater quantity of backlinks (as well) that my competitor, but still have lower page and domain Authority.
In this case, I must continue to build links, or wait for the re-calculation of my page and domain Authority to come up on google rank?
    thanks!

These tools are estimating PR and site authority based on the links that they find and according to the mathematical formulas that they assemble. Google's index of 'known' links is much different and so are their formulas. Also, Google uses over 100 different factors (some say 200) to determine position in SERPs. So, Google SERPs will be very different from what you find by simply comparing your site to a competitors site on these 'site statistics' tools. They are instead a good measure of how much work you need to do in certain specific areas.
