It is not Google's job to police the web. It is not their job to determine whether a site is publishing factual or non-factual information. Hell, 90% of the web is probably non-factual affiliate sites promoting some weightloss fad or something. Their job is to index the web and return relevant pages when people search for keyword phrases. Period...

In the US there is something called freedom of speech which is protected by the Constitution. Unless what they are doing is defamatory or libelous, there is not a lot you can do. If you feel you are being defamed or libeled then contact an attorney. Have your attorney deal with it.

Otherwise, move on... your chances of getting the site taken down are slim to none. Even if Google stopped indexing the site... there would be Bing, Ask, and thousands of other search engines out there that will still have it indexed.

Actually... It's not their job. If anything they should NOT treat blogspot any differently than websites at wordpress.com or those self hosted sites at GoDaddy, Bluehost, HostGator, or any other web host. It would be wrong for Google treat Blogspot blogs any differently than other blogs on the web JUST because Google provides the hosting. As long as the site is not violating the Blogspot Terms of Service, whether the content is factual or not is irrelevant.

You're asking Google to take down a web site based on YOUR statement that what they are saying is not factual. It is not Google's job to referee your online squabbles with other webmasters. They don't have enough people to settle disputes like yours on a daily basis. There are probably millions of others who have similar situations.

Get an attorney if it means that much to you or just forget about it.

If the blog were hosted at a .com i easily would put it down, because it's full of lies.

the problem is that those free blogs, google don't even care.

Acually, Google probably cares MORE about their free blogs than they do about sites hosted on other web hosts. If Google allows a free hosted blog that THEY own to perform illegal activities and they know about it, they can be held liable. The same is not true for sites hosted elsewhere. The problem is you're going to have a hard time proving they are doing anything illegal based solely on the fact that they are publishing lies. That is not against the law.

Actually Blogspot is the fastest web host to react to takedown requests of ANY web host I've dealth with, and I've dealt with alot. I submitted a DMCA request there and in under 3 hours the page was taken down. Most hosts take a day, some 2 or 3 days to research and take them down.

Godaddy, HostGator, Bluehost and other hosting providers will NOT take down a site just because you say they are posting lies. ROFL If they are violating the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) by publishing unauthorized copies of someones copyrighted content, you could have them taken down. If you have a court order then you can have them taken down. But "your word" that they are spreading lies is not enough to get them taken down. They have to be doing something illegal or something for which the web host can be liable like breaking copyright laws... again something illegal.

You can submit 70 spam reports or 70,000 spam reports and the results are going to be the same. If their site is not violating Google's Webmaster Guidelines, the site will not be penalized or banned from Google. If they are not violating the Terms of Service for Blogspot then their site will not be taken down.

It might suck... but it is what it is... You can continue wasting your time trying to get it taken down with no results. Or you can pay an attorney if there is even a "real" case to do so as in they are defaming or libelling your reputation with false claims., prove it in court, and get a court order to take the site down.
