Hi, i'm after some advice on my website which is due to launch soon. My site, AdQuick is a text ad marketplace where potential advertisers can browse our site and choose exactly what websites they want to advertise on. AdQuick is a UK company, but our website can be used by people from all over the world. Currently our plan is to have all prices on our site in UK pounds (
I use USD and I feel I loose some UK customers towards my UK based competitors because of that. It's about the psychlogy of trust rather than any inconvenience of currency conversion. Best bet is having 2 domains - 1 TLD for the US and 1 co.uk for the UK market. Both sites should differ in content in order to avoid any dup content filter.
Exactly, I would definitely go with this idea. It can't be too hard to implement. If you really have no other option, as it is a .co.uk site, I would go with GBP as the default currency, however I would also make sure that visitors can EASILY change the currency to USD.
I wouldn't stick to just one currency, but bear it mind that rates can increase depending on the currency when dealing with merchant bank accounts. I would quote prices in US$, £ and €
I would quote prices in both and do euros too, but the default should be pounds because thats what people expect when going to a .co.uk
Why couldn't you just use a shopping cart that supports multiple currencies? The card processor we use allows vendors to set the initial currency exchange seen by their customers for their own country, with a drop down for 12 more choices. http://www.seotutor.net/purchase.html
The card processor we use has the ability to allow users to choose what currency to pay in anyway, so when they are on their secure server they can choose £, $ or
