About the FTP

Connecting to the server works very nice no problems at all.
The files are ilsted all nice here.

As for uploading, my speed is only 56kb/s so I can't really say if it's slow or not
I didn't observe any issues during the transfer either.

However after the files were uploaded (I set 5 files to upload in the queue) only 1st file actually appeared on the server (from ftp view) the other 4 never did.

So all in all 1/5 files were placed on the actual server.
No errors accured during transfer of other 4 files.

Not that fancy I'd say

 

Yeha I've just been off doing some reading on the IWF (thought I should) - it seems they are only interested in criminal activity / child abuse stuff (which is not what I'm interested in), and they only block specific url's. The implication as I see it is that I either should be able to download files for which they didn't block the specific url (should be all of 'em in my case), or I shouldn't be able to access the filesonic site at all (if they blocked the base url) - that seems to be what they are saying at the www.iwf.org.uk/public/page.148.htm website

 

Can anyone tell me how I can have 1 referal, I havent given my ref link to anyone. Do you get a referal if someone buy a premium account from one of your links? If so I should have more than just one.

 

Of course that is what the IWF site is going to say, right? lol It was Wikipedia's and InternetArchive's fault they were blocked, right?

All joking aside, there is a big difference between the stated intentions of the IWF and its implementation. The sad fact is they are more apt to block an entire domain rather than a specific page or specific url.

There are three types of accounts: Free, Premium and Affiliate.

To become a referral, the user has to opt to be counted as an affiliate. Both free and premium users can be affiliates.

@banjowood - Fair enough - I take the point
However, if filesonic has found it's way onto the IWF list, isn't it filesonic's job to get themselves back off it asap ? The list is updated twice a day which suggests an effort to deal with such things quickly on the part of the IWF (an assumption, but not an unreasonable one (or is it ?)) - this has been going on for more than a week now.
Just curious, but do we know for sure that filesonic IS on the IWF list, or is this speculative ?
I suppose my point here is that if there's absolutely nothing I or Filesonic can do then I might as well just relax lol

 

That would assume the IWF was more interested in correcting errors than justifying their existence, eh? Look to how long it took Wikipedia to get de-listed, for hosters it is nigh impossible. Instead they have to implement code to counteract the proxies.

There are easier, more effective ways to fight kiddie porn on the file hosters. No hoster is interested in allowing such files. If you notify any of the hosters that such files exist, they will be deleted instantly without question. The IWF is more about control than fighting kiddie porn.

You could use an IP re-directer (RealHideIP, EasyHideIP, etc.) Shifting your IP to another country works for many UK users.

 

i live in the uk and i have a problem when uploading ftp
i only get an average speed of 50 kbps which is is very very slow and everyone else is complaning that 500 kbps is slow so can someone please help fix this problem

also i use smart ftp

 

not everybody likes captcha they can always find alternative if they want..based on experience also as a downloader/uploader for almost 6 years already..rapidshare days

if the service is good for sure we can always sell premium acct's

 

The server S86 is very slow .... almost stopped!
FTP today is very good! also the statistics seem to go well!

are you going to reduce download speed for free users and add captcha? Because now the download speed for free and premiums is the same!

thus free users are not motivated to buy premiums.

 

It is not true that is fast for users to download free ... 80/100 kb is right!
The captcha does not want them .... otherwise then as FileService sucks!
FileSonic okay .... let them fix the bugs and things do not always ask unnecessary or counterproductive!

I agree with this. How come Rapidshare managed to sell account if users could just upgrade to premium using the points system? Rapidshare doesn't have captcha nowadays, does it? Megaupload has a user-friendly captcha of only 4 characters, not some two-words phrase which sometimes is impossible to read.

But I have a request. Please add "Clear all Pending uploads" section near "Clear all "Finished" and "Problematic" uploads" in RU.
