I have found that Google seems to love exact keyword match domains, particularly if they are com, org or net. I am curious to hear others' experience with keyword rich or exact keyword match domains.
Obviously there are many factors that go into SERPS (and undoubtedly there will be someone rushing in here to yell "content is king" or other mumbo jumbo), but yes, you are absolutely right, exact match domain names give you a HUGE boost.
Thanks Vcize, I agree. I have found that an exact keyword match domain will often rise to Google's first page quickly (I have even had empty websites do this). However, to maintain the good ranking SEO and backlinks are necessary.
Definitely a plus in my experience to have a domain with a keyword/phrase match for Google purposes though as Vcize says there's more to it than that. I'd go as far as suggesting that a relevant domain name in a relatively uncompetitive niche with limited competition can achive and maintain a high Google first page with pretty basic SEO - a few articles and a spot of social bookmarking perhaps might be enough to get there. Thanks, Andy.
Of course... it is a no brainer that having a keyword in your domain name is a great advantage in your serp ranking efforts and it is for this very reason that most searched keywords are all already taken up for whatever they are worth! Regards, RightMan
I have a couple of domains who are visible on the first and second pages pretty much exclusively because they have an exact matching domain name. Not saying this does me much good, since they are still not in top positions and the keywords do not get much traffic. But essentially I have a couple of domain which has only ONE small page, and are visible on the first page for the core reason they have an exact matching domain name (the domains do have links to them though of course).
all search engines love exact match domains, i think bing likes anchor text matches more than anything else.
I too love keyword exact match domains! If that is what the public is looking for, you have a better chance of type-in traffic as well.
Good to know. I often use Market Samurai to check rankings, and it always amazes me how different each of the search engines are when ranking a page. Bing usually takes considerably longer.
Yep, yahoo in particular. I have many sites that are exact match domains that rank 1st overall on yahoo and outside the top 100 on google. Of course yahoo's algorithm is going away now :\
Allegedly, exact match keyword domain names have even more weight with Google Caffeine. I think SEO Book had an article about it.
Interesting about Google Caffeine. What's happening with Yahoo's algorithm (sorry, I don't get out much).
I don't know their algorithms. I only shared my observations which you can test easily by searching some generic words on Google, Yahoo and Bing.
All SE's gives a lot importance to exact keyword in domain, although google needs little more work...but its worth
In my opinion single keyword domains score very well, try searching for "search" for example. Two keywords domain names also good. From then on, I think search engines really don't care I think. A website for checking keywords in domain names is www.deckey.com, if anyone is interested.
