As far as I have observed, Google seriously takes into account the ranking that your page gets from Alexa. In other words, the higher you get in Alexa, the more google seems to like you
The best way to improve an Alexa ranking is to install the toolbar and just visit your own site a few times a day (and even better if you can get a friend to do the same) and then watch the big improvement in the site’s Alexa ranking. Make sure you do not visit your competitors site, as just visiting them will improve their ranking! This makes a mockery of the Alexa rankings.
Alexa rank is nothing much important but for advertiser/sponsor. It tells about your traffic and ranking
Alexa seems to be useful if you've got a lousy domain and can reload the page 10,000 times with sparky installed. I'm told compete.com is supposed to be far more accurate but that's also a toolbar/firefox add-on
i just hope if its true.. then thanks. will try that... otherwise really absurd, as one of the above user said.
Google decides the page rank also by considering alexa rank as a factor. You can check several sites having a good alexa rank gain google page rank.
i disagree with you mate..... PR only decided by backlink and nothing else... even a blank site can get high PR.
Alexa Traffic can be used as competitive tool, but consideration the fact that the audience sample size is fairly small. Just enter your competitor's site in the "Compare Sites" section and measure the results of your web marketing efforts in comparison with your competitors'. As opposed to Google's PageRank, the lower your ranking number, the better. It helps Webmasters and advertisers see the real marketing potential of your Web site. The better your Alexa rank, the higher they may be willing to bid to buy advertising space on your Web site. Personal pages or blogs are also ranked in the same way as ordinary Web sites. They will even get a distinctive mark (*) Because Alexa ranking helps you with information about your Web site, it is a good instrument for search engine optimization.
Google Analytics are meant to help webmasters learn about the visitors to their particular site, where they come from, which pages they visit, etc. It is an excellent tool for looking at one's particular site. Alexa looks at traffic patterns across the web as a whole. Our traffic data are based on the past three months of global traffic according to our diverse data sources, primarily our Toolbar users. This helps us get an excellent portrait of how traffic is shaped across the web, but is not meant to serve as a tool for analyzing in depth visitors' behavior at a particular site.
