How long does it take for the update to be completed across all data centers? On my site checker it has only 2 data centers updated: http://www.newdesignworld.com/browse-pagerank_checker-78-1.html
I can see the updated PR on 3 DC's (only) since past 16 hrs or more.. lets wait and watch if this PR is reflected on all the other DC's soon.. Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 30 (22 members and 8 guests) this thread is on fire like most PR-update threads..
My oldest site Helpedia.com seems to go to PR3 from PR1 (stable for almost an year), the directory (directory.helpedia.com) I've launched about 2 or 3 months ago gets no PR yet.. and my game cheats site www.tgdb.net remains at PR3 .. not what I've expected but it's ok because they didn't drop. I have a feeling that the datacenters are updated with a snapshot of data from about 1 month ago.
The ones saying that "PR is of no use" doesn't know SEO. Real beginners only thinks about PR and is obsessed about it. The ones that learn more learn that "it is of no importance". The real masters knows what it is, how it works and uses it together with many other measurements and tools. PR is one of many tools we have in SEO, it is important to understand it. It is important to understand that for example this update is coming from July 21-24, 2006 which is very long back. This means that any links after this date is not measured in this update. What you see now is the PR that was registered on the July 21-24, 2006. It is also important to understand that this is the first update since bigdaddy in which pre-bigdaddy sites got their home page PR updated (almost fully sure on this). The previous update was exported on July 15, 2006 and the data was taken from 9-11 juni 2006 but did not affect pre-bigdaddy home pages (almost fully sure). PR is vital if you work with any of the following: Link-vault, selling sites, selling links, exchanging links. But I can tell you that I look more on backlinks then PR. The toolbar PR is always very old and if you are skilled you can estimate the live PR with 90% correctness by checking and looking at backlinks for 1 minute, I have done it thousands of times. PR is just a tool and not a thing in itself, you have to learn how to use it. There are many other areas in SEO which is probably much more important: trust and relevancy are two such things. One very useful way to use this tool is to see the PR of your internal pages. You learn about PR flow and can see why certain pages ger higher PR than others, which ones got more external links than others, which link baits worked better than others etc. etc. And btw, I actually got 2 more PR6 so I have 5 now. And yes, I know what I talk about.
I only have PR1 for semsols and 24 links. You probably refer to another site. Anyway, you must work hard on semsols as well as it looks like your business site dealing with seo, such site itself should show your potential customers your credibility. Go out and get some 8000 links for it.
My blog http://dave-chappelle.net JUMPED from PR1 to PR5! Site is about 5 months old and I spent a total of about 30 minutes buying the domain and making posts! w0000000000000000t.
And another sign that Google follows no rhyme or reason as far as what we can see. Personally I think many of the old "rules of thumb" about Google are just wrong now. In the last few days one of my sites has gone from a PR3 to PR0 and now PR2. Most of my sites have seen no changes even though some of them have significant backlink changes. I kind of think toolbar PR updates don't happen like they used to. It seems now like only a portion of sites get updated at a time. For instance the last time I noticed PR changing, it only happened for my new sites. This update seems to be on my older sites.
