How to use domain from GoDaddy on another server?

    hello,

Here is a novice question that baffles me. I am not sure how this is called but it's certainly not called domain forwarding. I purchased a domain at Godaddy and I purchased a three month hosting plan at a different place. I want my domain to stay with Godaddy and my hosting plan with the other company. I uploaded my website on that server but when I go to my domain it displays the Godaddy page not my website.

What do I need to do?
How is the thing I need to do called? Is it called domain transferring or something else?

    Go to My Account.
Log in to see your domains
View all domains in domain manager
check the box by the domain you want to host elsewhere.
click the Nameservers button above your domain list.
Enter NS1.BLUEHOST.COM or whatever the name servers are of your new host. If you don't know these, your host should have a help file or directions in the cpanel somewhere.
Once you update the name servers you'll have to go to your host and indicate that you are pointing that domain at your hosting space.
Nameservers can update quickly but sometimes it can take a couple of hours to update.

alternatively you may change the A records of your current DNS. It updates the IP of your site (A record) hourly since Goddady uses 1 hour TTL as default. But first, you have to know what are A, MX, TXT, CNAME records.

It is called domain poiting to nameservers of your hosting (server) account. As has been said, you should clarify with your host what exact namservers should be pointed to. Namervers are usually look like ns1.something.com, ns2.something.com.
