I have a website I use to get new clients to write articles for. Today I added a Meebo live chat widget, and I can see when people are online and available to talk to me through the widget. My question is, should I send them a message if I see someone is on my site when I check my Meebo, or should I wait for them to message me? I don't want to come off as too aggressive here...what's the best tactic to use?
Simply Message Them Like "Hi, How can I server you Today" Or similar! And keep up the professionality! So, jumping wont make a problem but a perfect landing! ~ExP~
If they are on your site it might be OK to send them a quick message saying that you are available. I wouldn't do more than that. If your site has all the info they need they will know what to do without your messaging them.
Thanks for the input guys. I'm thinking something like "Hello, is there anything I can help you with today?" couldn't hurt.
By right, you need to wait them to start the conversation. If you started first then it will scared off visitor.
You know how when you go to a department store and you just wanna look around and see what they've got? And the lady behind the counter starts hovering over you asking what she can help you with, what you need and what you're looking for? And how you wait for an opening so you can bail on her and shop in peace at the store next door? It's kind of like that....... Don't be the lady behind the counter. Let them browse and buy in their own time.
That actually happened to me the other day when I was grocery shopping. I think people can find all the info they need on my site. If they are actually interested they will let me know. Thanks for the input guys.
well..if you are going to message them, you many annoy them. You can be online and if they need to talk to you, they would come to you. Although having a friendly chat can be plus.
Yea i think you should message them. Let me know how that works out and if you get any sales from doing that.
Go get them! I would message them, it doesn't hurt to attack. In my mind at least, I would try to get a dollar out of the people that you can.
Hi, One should do contact their clients or visitors, it will signify that you are interested to serve them in better way and especially when it is concerned financially.
To keep you guys updated... I've messaged a few people while they were on the site, but none of them responded. I have gotten plenty of visitors to use the live chat without me sending them a message first though.
I'd wait. Let them browse for a while, and if they are still hanging around after five or ten minutes, you might drop a line. But then, it the ones you've tried haven't worked, don't do it any more. It's like a split test. Try it. If it converts, keep doing it. If it doesn't, dont.
