I heard of wordpress for like 3 years but never used it. I seen a lot of really nice sites on the web that were designed with wordpress. i went to the site and tried to make a new site but failed miserably.

I downloaded the zip file on the home page but I have no idea on what they mean when I they say upload it to your server. What the hellp are they talking about?

Can someone please help me get the hang of this. My other web design software works like crap!

It's very, very easy to install wordpress manually but let me ask you - on your hosting, do you have cpanel with Fantastico? If you do you can have it install it automatically.

What exactly don't know to do? Use a FTP client to upload it on your server.

If your hosting provider has a tech support phone number, I would give them a quick call. Most likely will have you up minutes.

Wordpress is easy to install, plus there are lots of video tutorials out there, do some Google researches or in youtube, good luck.

Wordpress is very easy to set up for those who are experienced with web hosting. To the newbie - it can be intimidating, which makes it a perfect candidate for outsourcing. If you need help finding a reliable wordpress expert, let me know and I'll send you a list of the best.

i am pretty good with Go Daddy. I upload the sites I build all the time there and have a good grasp on how to use their FTP Client center. I just get to wordpress.org and get lost. Where the hell to i add content and pictures to build the site? I must be overlooking something stupid. Im really not this dumb, I swear!

Here is a very simple tip that almost everyone overlooks.

Go to Youtube. Search for tutorial videos about how to upload wordpress, how to use wordpress... etc. I find that learning by watching is very helpful.

    Good luck.

Once you have done that you can take the time to read the WordPress files. Avoid Fantastico... many drawbacks, not worth going into here.

last stupid question. wordpress.com or wordpress.org I need where I can build a small site, maybe a few pages of content and publish like a site. The reason i need WP is because i get way to much errors with my site builder (unproper CSS, broken links, images to big.....) I need a site that can do all this for me to help my rankings.

Stick with it, rjd1265. It's worth it.

If you are comfortable using ftp then you just unzip the file you downloaded from Wordpress.org and then upload them to the server for your domain.

Before you can install you will need to be able to connect to mysql. I'm not familiar with hosting on Godaddy but if I recall they use a custom interface so you'll need to have a rummage around to figure out how to do that.

Then you modify wp-config.php with those details.

After that, it pretty much does it all for you.

Ill call Go Daddy. I have a good concept of it now. i was getting wp.com and wp.org confused. I thought for the .org I could just open it up, design a site and upload it. Did not understand you had to upload first, then design the site.

    Thanks for being patient :)

No probs. :) If you get stuck just make a thread with the issue or post in this one. There are loads of great templates for wordpress as well so you'll quickly have a great looking site.
