You need to get your site hooked up with "Google Webmaster Tools".

That will tell you how many backlinks Google sees pointing to your site.

I heard Google isn't that accurate. I would use Yahoo site explorer.

To use a google webmaster you have to use a verification code it should be a meta tag added on every web page or upload a html file on server, when you complete this then you will get a access of webmaster and able to see ur search queries and lots of things.

Don't worry if Google doesn't show your backlinks. If you have them, Google knows about them. Just doesn't show them often, that's all. Your rankings are not affected by this.

Pretty much what frankenstone said. Even when you are using Google Webmaster tools you won't see all of your backlinks listed in there either. They don't let you know how many they see for you, and it seems to take Google a long time to show them anyway. Go to Google and look for a backlink checker to see what backlinks you have. Google is just secretive...

Another good (free) resource is www.submitexpress.com ... they have a free tool that lets you check your backlinks. Also help you with your meta tags and keywords.

Second to everyone else in this thread who recommends Yahoo Site Explorer. Yahoo is the only real measure of accurate backlinks.

Google takes longer to notice links, that's all.
Keep on making links in good places and you'll get them found by Google.

Yeah I was pretty freaked out after I spent hours creating backlinks that show up on yahoo but I still only have two on google. After more reading though it looks like google just never shows them, although they are probably still helping your rank.
